Hi i am completely new to modding and would just like to know how difficult it would be and what programs i would need to use in order to make an outfit using 2 different mods. I am hoping to use the camo shorts outfit from comonwealth shorts but with the boots from the rogue outfit.

Is this possible using just bodyslide and outfit studio ? or would i need to learn how to use other programs ?

many thanks in advance for any help.

Best bet is to grab Nifskope for the actual "mashing" of parts. Provided the object from the mesh are separate items (i.e the boots or the shorts) then you can simply use Nifskope to copy from one mesh to the other.

Be aware though that some meshes use or have included different or extra bones, so you may also have to copy the extra bones over first, then the object. (i.e the boots require a "toe" bone" but the shorts mesh doesn't have a "toe" bone, so you'll need to copy over the "Toe" bone first - and make sure to rename it (click the little "txt") exactly as it is in the original mesh, then you can copy over the actual boots object.

Once that's done, it's usually a good idea to open the combined mesh in Outfit Studio, tidy it up if needs be, get rid of excess vertices/triangles if need be (such as the feet, which are now covered by the boots), then save as a project and build it with Bodyslide.

I'm not sure I'd tell someone who has near none experience in modding to jump into NifSkope. It hands down is more powerful but also very hard to get right unless you're paying close attention to detail and kinda know what you're doing.

You *can* do mashups using only Outfit Studio. In fact I believe the majority of people who do them, do it just that way. Some also use actual modeling programs to cut away parts they don't want if items are a single mesh, instead of using zap sliders. Though zap sliders are probably where I'd recommend starting for a beginner.
