Cloaks!

So yeah. I'd really like it if someone made a Cloak mod!

We all know the climate in Skyrim is cold, and we really need cloaks which will cover us from the wind, eh? It also fits the setting of the game.

It would be great if you could buy different colored cloaks from a specific store, and they take up the ring slot.

I'm sure I'm not alone with this opinion, the Cloak mod for Oblivion was very popular, I think it'll be a greater success in Skyrim, though!

Few examples of Cloaks:

Bump for interest. There are several outfits in the game that have hooded bits on them that take the form of cloaks, but no true standalones-- most of them are parts of full-set gear, like Hooded Robes and the like. It'd also be nice to have a few more options for a thief/assassin/stealthy character other than the guild-specific duds or a goofy looking hood.

One thing I had pondered is a mod to use clothing like cloaks and hoods to keep from being recognized by guards (because your face is hidden/obscured) and/or maybe a tweak to vampires so they actually get burnt in the sun unless they're fully covered...

Cloaks are do-able like they were in Oblivion. But that is all really. Bethesda has been to lazy to upgrade their Havok algorithms to simulate clothing/hair/things that are supposed to move. The outfits with capes/cloaks already are just stitched into the bone/animation structures right now.

My advice : Petition Bethesda to get off their rich-lazy bums and do something with their game engine that ISN'T a bloody 10 year old method/practice. Compare Skyrim to Morrowind (and pretend they didn't go backwards with a few things (like wearing clothes under armor) for a minute and you'll see what I mean. Its great they stick with a formula that works. But the whole point of making NEW games is to IMPROVE on those practices that work.

Don't get me wrong though, they make great games. I just wish they would stop sucking on the out-dated console bottle for a minute. (Mind you they don't even need to do that!) I hate to say it but Force Unleashed was a multi-platform release and had some of the best Havok Physics I've yet to see from Havok. Period. (Thats without nvidia's BS phys-x processing believe it or not.)

However that is what a modding community is for. Though previous attempts to link havok to cloaks/clothing has proven disastrous in previous Bethesda games (IE not releasable because it simply breaks things) Maybe this "newer" engine will prove to be more competent with that sort of tinkering.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm kind of sick of seeing "cloaks" and "cloth" move like its made out of soaked card board in "Next Gen" games that support physics. (Again, don't get me wrong, I know it actually takes quite a bit of computing to run physics. But by the nine! Is it really too much to ask for an animated cloak even? Or as posted above... make it alteast look like some nord didn't decide to beat up a gnome for his cloak, wear it and then stitch it to his buttocks.

*cough* Two Worlds Two has some good things going for it.... beliveable Ocean waves and *gasp* cloaks that don't look like they were ironed out with fifty ounces of starch. *cough*
