Need help diagnosing overheating problem while playing Skyrim

I totally agree with Project579.

I have an Antec P 180 B big tower case since 5 years back. In this PC case the power suppy and even the harddrives are in a separate tunnel below. ( I have removed the upper Hdd box ). This, makes the video card clearance very good. And it's easy to keep the cable clutter at bay. My Radeon Sapphire Nitro 380 have no problems fitting into the case. Nor do I have any temperature problems.

The Antec P series cases are made for beeing silent. Though one can make both the airflow thru the case even better by adding Noctua, silent but high airflow case fans to it.

I have 2 such 120 mm Noctua case fans. One at the rear top and one at the back sucking air thru the case. Then I got 120 mm washable dust filters for the front fan holes.

Here are a more up to date Antec P case:

Thanks everyone for all your advice. I ended up biting the bullet and decided to purchase a new graphics card, a smaller one that is compatible with my PC. I still have the receipt for the 960 so I'm going to try to return it after I get the new card installed and hopefully this will solve all the problems. Either way, thank you for your help!

I don't think they will accept return of used card, that wasn't causing any technical difficulties. You better contact Evga first or you will end up selling the card to private person for less then you paid.

Getting new card won't really solve the issues with your PC case poor air circulation or weak cpu cooler. You will need to do something about that sooner or later. Shipping your gpu cards back and forth will cost you more than 1 new case. Mid ATX models start from 25$.
