A Communal Letter to Bethesda Softworks LLC

Well, whether or not they read it, it's still worth writing it all out

One purely practical criticism: I assume you meant 'gouged' in regards to your wife? Also, could do with 'helps' instead of 'help' on this: "Well, a wife that help me fight dragons"

Now, moving on to the game itself, I think I'd be bringing up the issue of there being so little evolution since 2006. It feels like Skyrim has taken mere baby steps from Oblivion. (And not all of them good, either.) In terms of content, supposedly Skyrim is much fuller than Oblvion and yet the fundamental game-play and what you can and can't do isn't much broader.

In fact, Skyrim in its current state is far less than modded Oblivion. And that it truly sad given the length of time between games and the fact that while modders enjoy what they do, they shouldn't HAVE to do it.

People seem very complacent about the fact that modders are going to fix everything that is wrong with Skyrim. And, while that is obviously going to turn out to be true, am I the only one who is pissed off that the bare bones of Skyrim requires so much repair and improvement?

Why didn't they put in a few hours work and give pc users higher resolution textures instead of such low quality ones from the console version?

Why are they still giving us closed cities when modders had Oblivion opened up successfully and with decent performance ages ago?

Anyhow, forgive the rant, but I think the major lack of evolution is a matter that needs addressing.

And don't let anyone tell you not to write the letter. Who cares if Bethesda never reads it? You're still entitled to an opinion.

Thank you

 I can't believe that my keyboard betrayed me... Twice! Correcting. Thanks much, I'm normally more onto it that that

"Forgive the rant"? You've just made me amazingly happy  You're evidently just as frustrated as I am about the same sort of things  Please stick around, I like you :teehee:

I'll draft in that lack of evolution now

And as an FYI for everyone, the letter is being updated as I go along, so make sure to check it every now and again

If anyone is still taking suggestions I have one MAJOR complaint, Shouts. Shouts are underpowered severely AND in all their infinite wisdom Bethesda MUST HAVE forgot to add in the Shout skill tree.

This post is only a few hours old, though it's being kicked back by all the other threads! I can sort of agree with that, especially when the Deathlords start popping up in dungeons. On a different but not unrelated topic, the mechanic that I'm slightly surprised was left out if freezing water. My shout (Forget which ) freezes enemies to their core. Does it do anything to water? No :yucky: I can understand that this would be difficult to implement, but I intend to look at it myself when we all get our mits on the CK

Good thing I didn't DL 1.2. But honestly, as a professional company, how do they suck so much at making a functional game? Obviously there will be errors, but as said before it's like they don't even test it. They have great ideas, and I am still enjoying the game, but really their execution is pretty bad.

Imagine if ES was Blizzard's franchise!

We would have to wait 15 years between games....... so that's not really a great hypothetical situation. But I do love the quality level in Blizzard games.

Woah, woah, woah. I assume you're talking lore/stability quality. The graphics of WoW are the reason I haven't played in a while :P But yeah, there is a certain ground that needs to be established between quality and reaching obnoxious release dates. Perhaps Bethesda should adopt Blizzard's definition of "Soon" over setting a release date almost a year before the game is "ready".
