sybar2k
Hello everyone, I have been playing skyrim for over 80 hours now and apart from common glitches I didn't have to many problems. Yesterday however I encountered a very strange bug. While in the lock picking minigame I cannot turn the lock with the A and D buttons. I can use the mouse to move around the lock pick but that is it. I tried using different keys, tried to update the local game content from steam and nothing works. These keys are not assignable in the controls menu. If anyone knows a fix to this please let me know. I have delt with it by letting the follower open the locked chests for me, but its pretty anoying as they always take their time in getting to me etc. Now I am stuck at the Dark Brotherhood guest where I must enter the coffin, the coffin is locked with a Novice level lock and Lydia will not enter the Dark Brotherhood if I try to make her do so. Going back to save games from days before also doesn't help. Edited December 1, 2011 by sybar2k
dartmaul15
think there is a mod allowing you to change hardcoded keybinds.

Deleted1342120User
I too have experienced this problem with lockpicking ever since Steam downloaded the 1.2 patch before I could stop it from doing so. Other problems since: sometimes non-hostile creatures show up as red dots, and quests I've completed do not go grey in my quest lineup. There may well be other problems, but I've not discovered them yet since I've not had time to play Skyrim very much.
jpmax47
There seems to be a problem with lockpicking keys A and D not turning the lock. I haven't found the answer yet, but I am researching for a solution and will post it here when I find one.
jpmax47
I found this post from Badassack and it worked for me. The A and D keys work again. I see today's patch broke the game for many people here. I was still in offline mode, so I was able to upload files which are effected. Just move and replace them with newer files in directory. You should be back to version 1.1, then stick in offline mode until Bethesda sorts the mess out. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8K1K0WTW EDIT: Here are more details if you're having any issues. TESV.exe file goes in your Steam > steamapps > common > skyrim Skyrim - Interface.bsa and Update.esm goes into Steam > steamapps > common > skyrim > Data Move and replace. Don't copy. That should revert your version to 1.1. This also goes for anyone who is having trouble here. Make sure you're replacing the files and getting rid of their newer versions. Another possible fix if you're still having issues - Delete ControlMap_Custom if you have one. It was updated as well, but not everyone has it. It should resolve any issues related to controls, but will reset custom bindings to default. Edited December 2, 2011 by jpmax47
