vakusgrey
Ok here is the issue. I found out that if I hold E on the PC version of Skyrim while out of talking distance of my companion I can get him/her/it to pick up all the loose or chested loot I want (I read that their is a limit to how much, but my Lydia had around 50 weapons on her, so the limit must be really high). Now I trudge through the forest wiping out band after band of bandits and clearing forts, all while collecting all the loot....errr Lydia collecting the loot. So I decide it is time to sell some off and store the rest in my Breezehome in Whiterun. The problem appears here. I take all the items off of Lydia and low and behold while in my possession they are almost all considered STOLEN!!! Meaning they are almost useless to me. I have fired Lydia and picked up another companion AND gotten rid of every single item that said it was stolen in my inventory EXCEPT Kriosis (sp?). I refuse to get rid of it so that sucks. Anyway I did all of this and yet all items i give to a companion comes back stolen, except a few things ( quest items seem to be immune to it and a few others, but I am not sure why. ) If anyone has any information to help that would be nice, since starting fresh is about my only option right now. -VakusGrey-

Scurrin
I am having this exact issue and have seen a few others post it. It seems to have something to do with having a companion pick up items in a container. Not sure if it puts them over their weight limit and it just flags everything as stolen. EDIT: Just taking the stolen items dropping them into a box and having your companion pick them up will switch the stolen flag back. So yeah, who needs fences anymore? rocknroll1968
EDIT: Just taking the stolen items dropping them into a box and having your companion pick them up will switch the stolen flag back. So yeah, who needs fences anymore? Ugh. A lot of my items I've had since the beginning of the game, I handed off to Faendal. Now, 20 hours in, most of the items he was carrying are listed as stolen...I've actually gone out of my way with this character to steal nothing more than ingredients, until I get to the thieves guild, so I know it's bogus. So far, just dumping all my stolen items in a barrel in whiterun and having Faendal go pick them up isn't resetting the items back to being not stolen. Maybe I'll dump him and try Lydia. :/ Edit: NVM. I see what you mean. Literally drop items on the ground and have your companion pick them back up.
