Terralventhe
What about just making dwarves as something non-Dwemer then? I dunno, call 'em Dvergr (or Dvergur singular, Dvergar plural) if you feel more comfortable with that. Make them an entirely subterranean race, so deep underground not even the Dwemer could reach them.

Dvergur (i would rather have normal dwarves not firstpostpicture dwarves... with a couple of armors and clothes to go)http://digital-art-gallery.com/picture/big/2604
Terralventhe
Yeah, that definitely looks like a step up from the image in the thread starter. Could give them some supernatural powers like, I dunno, earthmolding or the likes. Their cities being deep, deep underground, so deep that they have lava rivers around their cities and such. Hmm.. How about a lowered damage rate while outside during the day, on account of eyes unaccustomed to the sun - only used to torches and the hot glow of magma. aprilius20
Just saying, but Dvergur sounds too close for comfort to Draugr......and with Mjolla saying something along the lines of 'these Draugr smell bad' every time we pass one, I foresee many unnecessary fights:P Edited December 2, 2011 by aprilius20
Terralventhe
Only because you non-Scandinavians pronounce Draugr wrong, lawl. For one thing, it's 'Draugur' though that's to be expected since for whatever reason, it's become custom to cut off the '-ur' ending for all of the names these days if you're not Scandinavian. As for how it sounds? It's pronounce 'Dr-uoi-gurr' not 'droggur'. And Dvergur is pronounced 'Dveh-ehr-gurr'. Not even remotely similar.

You could also make nicknames dragger (draugur) and dverver (dvergur) Cir: Yo... that dverv is so drunk... he is hitting on another dverv...Umgrok: Dont you know their females also grow beards...Cir: So thats a female?Umgrok: Honestly... I dont know... Edited December 3, 2011 by Aokami
Aokami
I had an idea... The dverv'n people are new to tamriel as they came from another land...An entire family has come creating the first dverv'n colony... currently it would look more like a simple mine with dwarven lights and a small cave where they reside...They tell you that in a few hundred or maybe thousand years they will have crafted a beautiful city inside inside this rock... Hehe, thanks for the corrections and the accurate pronunciation. I don't know about the cutting off of -ur, but I confess to not paying much attention to how their names are spelled:P
DarkoVaultTech
I personally think dwarves would be a good add on. I mean their underground creatures, so you can use that as an excuse why they havent came up yet. and maybe an addon Return of the Dwemer :P which puts you off in a new area, and you can either destroy them or help them. Id like that.

I don't know about the cutting off of -ur, but I confess to not paying much attention to how their names are spelled:P Haha, it's understandable. If you've never been exposed to it as an everyday thing, you're not going to pick up on little things like spelling and pronunciations and such. Hell, I spend half my time groaning at Skyrim whenever I see the numerous occasions of men sporting womens' names, and vice versa, or the relentless Marvel!Thor pronunciations of names (seriously, that movie was one part non-stop comedy, one part 'what the hell am I watching' for Icelanders because of how everything was being pronounced and portrayed).
