Creating a child who fights, is killable.

I need to adjust one custom child actor I've created so that they 1) fight and 2) are killable. I've tried duplicating a child race (e.g. redguard child) and simply unchecked 'child' -- but the problem is that merely duplicating the child race results in a missing body.

 

Note: this is for a mod I'm creating and I need for the solution to not require external mods. I should also note that the possibility of death of this particular npc isn't a main feature of the mod--I just want for there to be the possibility of death should the player fail to make the 'good' choices.

 

Any tips ?
