Tethelon
After searching around, I couldn't find any answers to the common problem of some mp3s playing in Oblivion just fine, while others just won't play. So, I decided to see if I could figure out the problem. Bear with me, as I am not very tech savvy. Most of what I have learned is through trial and error (mostly error!). If this topic has already been answered, then feel free to ignore/delete this post. It is definitely the encoding process of iTunes. After looking closely at the properties of various mp3s and trying them out in-game, I found that any mp3s that were encoded by iTunes 9.2.0.61 or later will not play, but those before will play fine (the iTunes version I have listed may not be the break point, but that's the version where I noticed the problem starting). It's a bit of a hassle, but running any mp3s from a later version of iTunes that don't work in Oblivion through a mp3 converter will fix it. A simple, free program will do the trick. You can even "convert" from mp3 to mp3 to get the track to play in game! I hope this helps some of you fellow iTunes users out. I recently picked up Oblivion during the Steam sale, and have been furiously modding the game to my liking. This site has been a huge help in that, so I felt the least I could do was try to help others out with a problem that doesn't seem to have an answer here. -Teth Edited December 2, 2011 by Tethelon
