Take out the Trash

It's called atmosphere and it's supposed to be designed to give you a sense of what the various areas are like, it's part of the gaming experience. Similar to fallout games... I happen to like the clutter, it gives a sense of what the various areas were like long ago when they were actually in use in the past.. you know.. since most of the areas in Skyrim are 200+ years old, some crypts are much older than that if you follow the lore.

The miscellaneous stuff laying around doesn't harm anything, although if you you think your video card's being slowed down by misc junk laying about.. you should probably upgrade your hardware before playing the game in the first place.

Also about bumping: most forums on the internet have rules against bumping your own threads even once. It's considered very bad forum etiquette and a pretty high percentage of forum sites on the internet will have the admins permanently ban you without question for multiple bumps. When I see a topic that has 8 replies, It makes me think there's been some kind of actual information exchange in that thread, So I click on it.. but seeing "Bump" 8 times is just immature. Just make a thread, and let it go, sometimes threads get replies, sometimes they don't, it's part of the system. But in general, it's usually not worth the risk of banishment to re-bump a lot, you should probably get used to not-bumping now if you're going to use forums on the internet.

I bump when I need to, and that's all I'm going to say about that.

As for the actual conversation...

- Your opinion on how much "clutter" YOU find acceptable - is a moot point. As this is MY request thread for a mod that I would find useful. You don't have to like it, or use it. Sorry to be blunt, but that's just the way it is.

- The clutter, consists of any item that I can't pick up and find a use for - like all those dwarven cogs, and metal bits and bobs, broken pots and jugs, burnt books, embalming tools, wine bottles, ... just a ridiculous amount of useless junk shoved into a room to fill it up, and of course - being the type of person that I am, I MUST sift through it all to see if there is actually something I might WANT to pick up - I just find it a distraction that takes away from what makes the game enjoyable to me. If you feel that adds to the games atmosphere, great. I personally don't need it.

There has been a mod like this for the various fallout series games, as well as the previous elder scroll games - So I really see no harm in requesting it for this game.

Sadly I didn't think we would need the toolset to do something like this - but if I have to wait till then so be it.

- Finally, the request for this mod has nothing to do with my system specs, or any sort of frame loss - I have zero problems playing the game maxed out, with loads of the improvement mods installed. Not sure why that got brought up.

Thanks again for the bumps =)

Cheers.

performance was mentioned because all those little "useless clutter" items laying around all have triangles and textures on them just like everything else in the world. Removing them = less that your system has to render while playing the game, and thus better performance, although probably a minute performance increase... still, it would be some, and that's the only actual logical reason i could think of for removing trash/clutter.

  • 2 weeks later...

These items don't need to be "items" for atmosphere - there are LOADS of items that aren't movable / etc - they could have made all these clutter items like those - wouldn't have a problem with them then, but I don't need to be running through a room and having bones, and other misc crap flying up and hitting me in the face, nor do I need to be looking for USEFUL stuff to pick up and having to burrow my way through 23 useless items to get at it.

I'd just like to get into a room, loot it and move on with as little fuss as possible - I fail to see why this is so difficult to understand. If you feel you need to rummage through hundreds of useless items for atmosphere then hey who am I to judge - me, I don't have that problem.

As for the performance issue - honestly it's not an issue and if it was an issue - I think you would have larger issues than worrying about how many embalming tools are on your screen lowering your FPS.

Once again, this is a personal request for something I would find useful.

You don't have to find it rational, logical, useful or anything else - There are thousands of mods out there, no one uses them all.

Thanks again for the bump.

Cheers.
