Bethesda screwed us again...

1. Releasing a game that is just a worse version of the previous one...

The sequel should always build upon it's predecessor, not rip out the aspects that people loved. Vanilla Oblivion is much better than Vanilla Skyrim in terms of functionality and user interaction with game environment. I agree with the many complaints about the UI (not only much worse than Oblivion, but possibly the worst UI for any CRPG released in the last 10 years), but what I find almost as annoying is the lack of portable containers. If the latest version of the game engine is anything like the one for Fallout 3, then there isn't even a class for these kind of containers, nor will there be any easy way to make them with the creation kit.

I am of two minds on this subject.

On the one hand, I am kinda mad that it's two months or more. It was supposed to be released with the game, but apparently minor delays put it off a couple weeks. This was a selling point of the game. You don't have to pay for it any more than you have to pay for the ability to do the Thieves Guild quest chain, but the idea that you will have things to do as a thief is a selling point of the game. It's not going to throw me off of Bethesda, I'm not going to stop buying. I'm just going to register my complaint and move on.

On the other hand, I do feel like a lot of people on BOTH sides of this argument care a bit too much. It's just a game, guys. Keep it cool. Getting mad because it's not as good as it could be is understandable, but don't take it too far.

Vanilla Oblivion is much better than Vanilla Skyrim

Opinions. Everybody got them, means nothing. Please do not use them as an argument.

I got no problems with the release date. Why? Most mod projects can be made finish NOW. We got the 3d softwares, we got voice acting, we can plan out quests.

The only people screaming after the CK are, shockingly, the people who uses mods, but got no plan of making one. You guys should calm down.

Good mods will not run in the day of the CK. The biggest will not arive for a year, smaller changes can come in a week. Screaming at everybody for it helps nobody. Modding is a hobby, and a hobby is always prioritized lowest. Well, it should be!

I a simply happy I got an estimate. I can now plan out everything, and got myself a deadline before I need to have stuff ready for import. It is so muc better than havig your hopes up every morning, and having the crushed!

I hate bethsda

so since they are so ignorant as to withold ( mosty likely to remove features and implement some worthless steam crap ) theyre ceation software when they said it would be released with the game, if thats not false advertising then what is.

i personaly belive that we should say screw you bethsda and make our own modding software. i understand how hard it would be to make but honestly once we figure how to decompile the main game folders its simple from there.

if this were to be made it would teach all game devs that we are not at all dependant on them for anything.

as far as developnent id be happy to help but im not capable of making it entirely by myself ( at least before the "offical" one is released ).

anyone who has programing experience is welcome to help ( i would prefer assembly but D would work too. i want to avoud C and C++ as much as possible as i dont have time to learn a entirely new language and theyre both overrated )

if i get some support il start a thread but theres no point in starting one if nobody is willing to help

p.s. if your reading this bethsda, know that i will not be waiting for you to clean up your act and cripple the ck, that we as a modding community are not going to be played with by you and your selfish "delays" , and that i hate you so very much

people who wanted to make mods more than they want to play the game.

Most of the "Let's make Tamriel"" ideas are not from experienced modders, but people who do not care to mod.

Most of the "The game is unbearable!!" is not modders. Because modders know we will suit the game for our needs.

I will admit some experience modder post on the "the CK is soon to be released!" topics. But you barely see them/us go "AUHMYGAUD THIS GAME IS SO BAD BCUZ I CANT MOD IT YET!". We modded Oblivion, we modded Morrowind. Some modder Fallout and New Vegas. There is no rush, at all.

This is, of course, speculations. There is no numbers on either. I just figured out most of the loud "WE NEED THE CK!" poster seem to be users, not makers.

Bethesda screwed us again...

1. Releasing a game that is just a worse version of the previous one

2. They didn't add a single useful thing to game:

3. Incredible amount of bugs and glitches:

4. Bethesda playing waiting game with us:

@1:

Opinion, everyone has one and no one can claim to be 100% right, for me Skyrim is a pretty good game while Oblivion in Vanilla state belongs into the toilet. You call it mafia I call it a realistic thieves guild ... seriously the one in Oblivion was "lets all be happy and nice and help each other"-club. Less fun is very very subjective.

@2:

Yes, its not like we have Dragons, Dual Wiedling, halfway sane leveling, custom perks, crafting ...

@3:

I played for somewhere around 30-50 hours now and the worst bug I found was missplaced npcs, in Oblivion I sometimes couldn't leave the starting dungeon without a CTD

@4:

I far far far far far *300 times far* prefere them to take longer with the CK then give us a horrible buggy mess. It might take 2 month but how much time will we safe if the CK has no or almost no bugs? So I will wait till I see how the CK looks before I make my full opinion.

Don't misquote me, then gripe. I qualified what I said with "...in terms of functionality and user interaction with game environment." Just go back and look at the trade screen in Oblivion for one - they left out the ability to sort items by weight, price, and rating. And there are more/better interactions with vanilla Oblivion, it's not an opinion. For example, in Oblivion, one could easily grab an object at it's side to flip it, but in Skyrim the user always grabs something from the center no matter what, and items have a weird way of turning when you don't want them too. The possibility to jump higher is gone too, and there are more invisible walls in Skyrim than there ever were in Oblivion. In fact, in terms of functionality and user interaction, is there ANYTHING that Skyrim does better than Oblivion?
