SkyTaylor21
I'm trying to make a spell for skyrim. I want a fire spell that uses the flame atronach explosion on impact and the fire breath shout effects for the projectile. What I did was duplicate the firebreath effect and added the atronach explosion effect to the duplicated version. I duplicated the fireball spell and added the new effect and deleted the old fireball effect. So I went to test it in game and I console commanded the spell to my character and it wasn't in my spell inventory. Any ideas?
irswat
what did you type in the console command
thumbincubation
Take a look back at your magic effect. 6th down on the left, set it to "Destruction." Then, further down on the left, delete the "magic shout" and "shout fire breath". See if it shows up in your destruction spell list then. Also, check to make sure you gave the spell a unique name, not just a unique editor ID. When I'm testing things, I usually put my initials in the name, so it's easier to find in console, and I'm sure I've given myself the right one. Once it's working, then I just go back in and make the name right.
SkyTaylor21
I typed in help "xxx" and then typed in the player.addspell yyy and it said that it added the spell to my character but it wasn't there. It wasn't in the spell sections or the shout or power sections. I'll try your suggestion tomorrow thumbincubation.
SkyTaylor21
Well I figured out how to get it into my spell list, but when I cast it, there isn't an explosion effect. I tried the firestorm explosion and the Flame Atronach Death explosion but neither worked. Any ideas? thumbincubation
Ok, open up the spell itself, then double click the effect inside it, to edit. Give it a small area of effect, say 5 or 10 to experiment. I didn't have any luck with the flame atronach explosion or any other, in the magic effect I experimented with. Opened up fireball and compared them, so I took a chance at the fireball explosion, also with no effect. Then I got a wild hair and set 100 area. It's definitely exploding now. So try the fireball explosion (in your magic effect) and an area (in the spell form itself.) See if that changes things for you.
SkyTaylor21
Ok, the explosion worked, but when it explodes, I get this excessively huge fire spire. Is there any way to make the spire smaller?
SkyTaylor21
I figured out the spire. I believe the spire is part of the fire atromach explosion effect. I want a similar effect to the one in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WE-Ratb_RjA starting at 5:37 Edited September 9, 2016 by SkyTaylor21
thumbincubation
That I'm not sure about. That one in the vid sort of looks like the flame atronach explosion indoors, but outside it looks different. I'm taking a guess here, but if you search "explosion" look at FXAtronachFireDeathExplosion. There should be some adjustment options there in the form, for radius, size, etc. You will want to dup/rename, so as not to change every atronach in the game, though. If not that, then I'm not sure what to suggest. Sorry, am still learning this as I go.
SkyTaylor21
No need to apologize, you've been a huge help. I'll look and see if there are anyways to adjust it.
