monkofmadnes
Note: I'm not a designer, I can't even follow the tutorial. So if anyone wants to turn this idea into a mod, then please contact me at [email protected]So my idea for a quest mod is in short finding the 3 pieces of the gray cowl of nocturnal from a family ripped apart by greed. giving you a guildhall and an arena(sorta) in the progress. The Story: After becoming the guild master of the Thieves Guild, a man will sit in the Ragged Flagon saying he's been hired by Brynjolf to organise the guild i.e. making/giving heists. And it just so happens that he has a heist for you! Long ago during the Oblivion Crisis a friend of the Gray Fox helped him to remove the curse of the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal. Originally the Cowl was passed on from guild master to guild master, however after serveral generations the Cowl became a family heirloom. Somewhere before the Great War this family moved to Skyrim. The last heir to the Cowl had 3 sons. When he died he passed it on to all of them. However none of the brothers felt like sharing the Cowl for it has great power. During their fight over the Cowl they accidently ripped the Cowl in 3 pieces. After this they were so angry they never wanted to see eachother again. The oldest brother, a nord with an unthinking loyality to the Empire, joined the Legion but got ambushed by the Thalmor in the mountains near Solitude, he and his squad fled into a nearby cave and ran through it, trying to flee from the pursuing Thalmor as they were completely outnumbered, thinking about 6 to 12 but 2 of the legionairs got killed in the ambush, another 1 as they fled into the cave and the last 3 died as they ran into a dead end. Now the cave is overrun by wolves and as you're going through the cave you'll see the ghosts of the legionairs in their last moments, kinda like the Labyrinthian quest for the winterhold college or Tending the Flames where you have to find the king olaf verse for the Bards CollegeThe youngest brother, a peaceful wizard, remained in the family house and is still there, he'll help you with your quest and help you rebuild his home and turn it into a guildhall. And now there's the last brother, a smart man, very good with riddles, traps and puzzles... After the fight he went away to an ancient nord ruin, in the mountains south of Dawnstar and east of Morthal and made lots of traps and puzzles (like those in the Nocturnal quest where you have to return that Skeleton Key) to protect himself and the piece as he was extremely paranoid. So paranoid that he got delusions of his brothers waiting outside the ruins wanting him dead so he stayed inside the ruins untill he died of starvation. So, that was my idea for a quest. Please let me know what you think of it, im open for suggestions and (contructive) criticism. Edited December 4, 2011 by monkofmadnes
monkofmadnes
About that family home as a guildhall, think i've found a good place, south of Rorikstead near some bandit fort (forgot the name), anyway my idea was that the house itself whould be split up in 3 parts, the mainfloor which will be the player house, the first floor or second for americans will be the guildhall and the basement which will be a arena kind off thing in which you'll fight animals and bandits/independent thieves/undead, thinking of adding a necromancer to the basement who like summons those bandits/thieves/undead and stuff. chaotickittehhhhh
Seems like an ok quest I guess, though I'm not sure what good the cowl of nocturnal would be in 3 pieces. xD I do like the idea of adding another guildhall for the thieves guild, as then it could be expanded and new quests added. mwahaha. cppcooper
I would like to see the function of the cowl return.. with a new model and texture. The reason for a new model can be written into the story. You find the cowl functionally destroyed and unusable. At this point when you are doing the quest you should either be the thieves guild master already or you should be stealing something else during this heist, and happen to find the cowl and not know what it is. Have the guy who hired you tell you it is worthless junk, it is obviously enchanted but since it is destroyed it isn't worth anything (especially not knowing what it is).. maybe x in y or perhaps you can research it at z. Go do so and learn what it is.. go to nocturnal's servant who tells you what you've got then tell you to present it to nocturnal at once. If there is any usable dialogue of course. Broken crap gets converted into an enchanted thread which can be used to craft armour. The servant offers to craft if for you, for a price. You can use the enchanted thread yourself, and craft it into a unique hood or cowl. One that goes well with the other apparel you get through nocturnal / thieves guild. Craftable only once but can be used to craft anything with leather involved. Hood / Cowl, people forget your face.Gloves, people don't notice you steal things.Armour, an effect similar to chameleon in Oblivion minus the visual effect. (Only works with Leather Armour, for obvious balancing concerns) Get some people to do a little bit of voice acting and voila.
