Newbie problems with nifs

I imported the PlayerHouse_Ruin_Kitchen_Cabinet05.nif into 3DS Max and deleted the broken sink pieces. My plan was to place the working sink activator on top in the CK. The problem is that when I export, the nif data doesn't resemble the original at all. The textures paths, collision data etc are all messed up.

Here's a link to a google drive folder with both the original and altered nif. Sorry that I cannot be more helpful.

I also have some confusion regarding what is the proper plugin for Fallout 4. I downloaded this but whenever I load a nif 3DS Max defaults to Skyrim and there is no Fallout 4 option.

When working with meshes i aIways do it like this:

open the nif with nifskope -> export the mesh you want to work with as .obj -> import this .obj file to 3ds max and change whatever you want -> export the file as .3ds -> highlite the original mesh in nifskope and import the .3ds file which will simple overwrite the original.

Afterwards you only have to: face normals -> uptade tangent spaces -> smooth normals -> remove duplicate vertices.

Just note that this doesn't work with bows or armors because you have to reskin them once you changed the poly count, which can't be done in nifskope.
