hav0c2
Hey guys and girls! I just modded New Vegas for the first time (I'm sure you hate hearing that) and ran into a weird issue. The game played just fine and I made it to the Highway Patrol Station. I forgot I left ED-E in Primm and fast travelled to get him. Game froze and I restarted. When I started the game again, The music started and it started to load but then for some reason the new game screens started popping up. The DLC notes that say level cap had been aded and what not. I'll attach Pics of mods, load order, and a video of what happens in the next few comments. ANY help would be appreciated! If you need my machine specs I'll send them, but let me know how to find them? Thanks!! Edited September 8, 2016 by hav0c2
hav0c2
Couldn't figure out how to upload a video. dubiousintent
As you are just starting out, I have no qualms in advising you to read the wiki article "FNV General Mod Use Advice", and then the linked articles before starting over. If you will take the time to read "how to do it right" you will save yourself a lot of grief down the road. Just for starters: your "load order" is wrong, the CTD after "fast travel" suggests you are using the game's internal "auto save" feature, you have XML file replacing HUD mods (which need to be installed in the correct sequence to work correctly in addition to being in the correct "load order"), you have installed a number of hi-rez texture mods before getting a stable game setup, and at that point I stopped looking. Starting over "the right way" is actually the simplest and quickest solution right now. Please, take the time to read that article. -Dubious-
hav0c2
Thanks for the reply. I did forget to disable autosave. My bad. I'll read through it tonight. My guess is its going to say something to the effect of disable all mods the. Re-enable one by one to ensure stability. My question is how long would you play before feeling confident it was stable? dubiousintent
I've replaced my original "off-the-cuff" reply with this link to the "Testing" sub-topic in the wiki article "FNV General Mod Advice", which has been expanded and refined. -Dubious- Edited September 8, 2016 by dubiousintent
hav0c2
Thanks for all of your advice! I just started with mods. Been a console player my whole life. got bored one day and watched the Gopher "Let's Play" and thought it looked like a lot of fun. I followed his modding how-tos and loaded project Nevada, MCM, and a couple others with no problem. I then went a little crazy and started adding mods with impunity. I ran LOOT And FNV EDIT and everything looked good. It wasn't. I moved steam from /program files (x86) into /desktop/games, disabled then deleted all mods, and am currently moving from FOMM to NMM. I'll start over with Project Nevada, MCM and a couple other basic ones, then start loading the other ones one at a time! I really appreciate the time you put into helping people. I'd buy you a beer if I could
