RIVER! DIVE IN THE RIVER!*kadoonsh!*...and I'm still ON FIRE! ASDFGARGM*dead*---This has happened to me far, far too many times (or variants thereof, at least). I don't care if it's the POWER OF THE VOICE, it's fire, water should extinguish it, not make it impossible for me to heal myself while I continue to burn whilst completely submerged. I'm already miffed that I can't redirect arrows with a well-timed FUS RO DAH or cut back a dragon's flames with it, but this is just unfair. I imagine this will obviously have to be a script extender-enabled mod until we can get the Construction Kit, but I can't imagine it would be too hard to implement: just see if the actor is swimming (since it obviously removes use of attacks/powers, there has to be a bIsActorSwimming value or something), and if so, put out any lingering fire damage effect currently on the character (as the flames are applied as a DOT magic effect). It's bad enough that even the first dragon to show up is able to flame-broil me within an inch of my life unless I grind my Restoration and armor skills to Sovngard and back. Or, bite me in two because I took an arrow to the knee from a half-blind guard that can't hit the broad side of a dragon (literally!). I'd like to at least be able to listen to basic human instinct and get my medium-rare Dragonborn butt into the nearest river, and have it do something other than carry my corpse to the nearest town for burial. Anyone up to providing me (and others) that little bit of gratification?
SaturnFX
Heh, agreedI have, several times now, been on fire from a dragon and ran straight into water, only to be on fire while swimming... I do hope a mod sorts this out asap..also, when I set things on fire, if they are in water, it should have the same useless effect. I think if your underwater, no fire damage should come (but perhaps double electricity?)...just so its not to give a glitch where you stand in a small puddle winging arrows at a fire breathing dragon that can't flame you because your toes are wet.. Sorry about the arrow to the knee. I bet you used to be an adventurer also until that.

Theres so many things with the shouts i think should be implemented
mindinavoid
I think if your underwater, no fire damage should come (but perhaps double electricity?)I like this idea, although I'd not want it to be so absolute. If swimming, fire resistance 50%, weakness to shock 50%, weakness to frost 10%. If you're hanging out in a pool and someone levels a flamethrower at you, not only do you have some crazy neighbors, but it's not going to protect you completely. As it is, you're being saved from the lingering damage already (as you're in the water). We don't want the electricity to be overpoweringly deadly, either. Furthermore, if you're drenched in water, you're more susceptible to frostbite and other such loss-of-heat effects, thus the added frost weakness. If we wanted to go whole-hog on the idea, though, hitting a target in water with an electricity attack causing, say, a 20%-of-dealt electricity damage effect to anyone within range that is also in the water would be interesting. Lead a couple bandits into a stream, jump out of the water, zap the *caw!* out of one of them, and the other one fries too. For example and clarification on the 20% thing, a hypothetical construction: say you zap someone sitting in a pool (submerged to the point of swimming) with a 100-point lightning bolt. Within a ten foot range, there's another person in the water. They're hit for 20 points of electric damage, from electrical "spread", before resistances/weaknesses are applied. Folkvangr
I like the idea of jumping into a body of water to extinguish the fire damage as well as the animation. Definitely would help with the immersion factor. It would be pretty neat to be able to electric portions of the water as well (à la the Bioshock series), similar to the way you can set oil on fire within dungeons.
