ShuMaKisO
I've been playing without using steam after that first mini patch screwed up everything. All ive heard is horror stories about 1.2's release but havn't been keeping up to date on events. Basically just wondering first, is there any reason to update skyrim? and second if there is, do i need to uninstall all my mods and then reinstall them after the update? how does this work? Srikandi
Patches fix bugs. They can also introduce new bugs, of course... and that seems to get a lot more of the community's attention than the bugs that were fixed... but all patches fix SOME bugs. There's also a lot of noise about the bugs this patch DIDN'T fix, but that did not surprise me... doesn't mean they aren't going to be fixed, just that they're going to be releasing frequent small patches rather than holding back till they can fix everything (a good decision IMO). So yeah, I would update... in fact, I did update. There are some small but helpful changes to the UI, for instance, that I appreciate, and I don't have more issues than I did before. Mind you, I have a low-level character (had to restart due to the premature death of a computer), so the resistances issue doesn't affect me so much ;) You could wait till next week when the patch for this patch will be out. Another reason for mod users to update, in general, is that modders don't tend to make mods backwards compatible... so new mods that come out are always going to target the latest release version, and so if you want to keep using new mods, it behooves you to keep your game patched. As for your mods, the effect of ANY patch on them completely depends on a) what the mod does and b) what the patch did. For texture replacers and the like, chances are there's no interaction. For anything that touches the .exe, chances are there IS an interaction and you will need to get an updated version. A patch that changes perks... will interact with mods that change perks, and so on. There's no general answer to that question :) Edited December 3, 2011 by Srikandi
