Nightingale Prime textures problem

Hello

I have downloaded the Nightingale prime texture mod. It looks amazing but I have a problem with it. When I look at it from behind and other certain angles I can see through the armor. It is harder to see on the back but when I look at the arms on the front it is easier to see. I have posted an image to make it easier to understand what I am talking about.

Does anyone else have this problem and does anyone know know how to fix it?

Thank you for your help.

What you're seeing there is Anisotropic Filtering introduced Aliasing (and a pretty bad case of it at that). Try messing with the negative LOD bias settings in nVidia Inspector if you have an nVidia card. Setting it to allow negative LOD bias and dropping the LOD bias setting itself down to -0.5 or so should both improve texture sharpening and reduce the aliasing you're seeing. You can also increase the amount of Anti aliasing you're using, or decrease the amount of AF.

Haven't used an ATI/AMD card since my oooooooooooollllllllllllddddddddd 9800 PRO so I haven't used any of there utilities since then either... Their driver control panel may include a setting for negative bias, and I believe RadeonPro could possibly have similar capabilities to nVidia Inspector. Do make sure you have the newest Drivers available for playing Skyrim as well. The 11.11a/b drivers supposedly did a lot for how well Skyrim performs on ATI cards.

Edit: Bump texture filtering quality up to very high as well. My 560 TI can handle 16x Aniso on very high so I know your card shouldn't have any problems with it and it may help with the aliasing.

I updated my drivers to 11.11 and then installed ATi Tray Tools. I found the Anisotropic Filtering in the Tray tools and set it to -0.5. But for some strange reason Skyrim will not start. I just get a small black window in the top left corner and the Skyrim bar in the task bar only opens half way. I set it back to 0.0 but it does not help.

But as far as I know Skyrim is the only game that does not start after the update. I opened Saints Row 3 and Assassin`s Creed Brotherhood without any problems.

Edit: For some reason Skyrim does not want to start when ATI Tray Tool is open. When I close the Tray Tool it starts withour problems. But then I am back at point 0 because then I am not able to solve anything.

Thanks for the help

Are you running any d3d9.dll hookins for Skyrim? FXAA PPI, ENB(lol)? They conflict with tools like ATI Tray Tools and can cause crash on startup issues. It may be one or the other for you.

All I know is that I am using FXAA and 4GB Skyrim patch found here:

I deleted the d3d9.dll file and was able to run Skyrim. But I do not see any changes to the armor. And after installing the new drivers I have a feeling that I have dropped a lot in FPS in Skyrim. So I will have to see if I might try to revert back to the old drivers.

I will try to set the Anisotropic Filtering to - 0.10 but I do not think it will make any difference. I will also try to update FXAA and the 4GB patch. If it does not work I might just get a new texture. I will just have to see what happenes.

Thanks for the help
