Cherubina
I suppose those are google ads (advertisements) because they look much like it. For some inexplicable reason they seem to make my framerate drop all the way down to slide-show level.
VinnyOcean24
why do you have ads running in a game? Sounds like a pirated version to me
VinnyOcean24
and yes if your browsing the web loading for sites will cause fps issues
DrakeTheDragon
People often use terms like fps and framerate without knowing what they mean, leading to use in a context where they don't apply. It doesn't sound to me like the ads would be displaying inside a game, and while your monitor constantly refreshes its contents, an OS does not exactly have a framerate. And if it slows down, it most certainly won't be the framerate affected solely. Yes, advertisements can slow down your browser, not only loading times but also processing and script execution, up to the point of JavaScript execution completely ceasing. Most cases where people talk of this lately is when Flash was used, which is used by many, if not most, advertisements nowadays. I'm not on a particularly fast computer, and I need it running stable and smoothly all the time for development and work tasks, my browser slowing down to a halt in the middle of me testing another webpage or server app is unthinkable, so measures had to be taken to prevent this. While I am not allowed to use AdBlockers (I'm also developing and testing ads, which I can't do when they're blocked), script blockers or the like for website developer and debugger reasons, I found solution in using FlashBlock instead. It blocks only Flash ads for once, it still triggers impression tracking on the serving end so compensation is not impacted for two, and for three it simply puts a play button all over the ad area and there's no auto playback, intrusive execution, too loud volume in the middle of night, or anything else you can come up with, unless I specifically tell it to run (which I only do on ads of our own creation anyways, and those are very rarely Flash based, or animated, to begin with).
