stebbinsd
I've been trying to use "Alternate Settlements." However, I've got a bug. And this bug is present in nearly every mod except for "Homemaker - Expanded Settlement" that I've downloaded that purports to add new items for me to build. The items are all invisible! I've got the materials to build them, but they just don't show up when I scroll over to them! It's not even like I'm missing a perk (such as "Science" or "gun nut"), because in vanilla, when that happens, they at least show up in the horizontal menu at the bottom! Here's a screenshot to show you what I'm talking about. So, as you can see, the textures for these objects ... just ... aren't ... showing ... up! Just to repeat: This isn't an "Alternate Settlements" problem, which is why I'm not contacting the modder over this problem. This is a problem with nearly EVERY mod I've downloaded (with Homemaker being a notable exception) that tries to add new building items. So odds are a thousand to one that the problem is on my end. What do I do?

shellie_p
are you using the NMM to install your mods? if so try Installing them manually. Sometimes it fixes it.
stebbinsd
I downloaded alternate settlements manually. I used 7-zip to extract all the contents of this enormous, 245MB file to my Fallout 4 data folder. Only this time, it's not working at all. The options for the Alternate Settlement structures don't even show up at all, invisible or otherwise! And before you ask ... yes, I entered the "mods" section of the main menu, logged into Bethesda.net, and confirmed that alternatesettlements.esp was activated. So that can't be the problem.EDIT: Okay, I just dug a little deeper. Turns out, the items I wanted out of Alternate Settlements are still in the game, just in a different section in the building menu. However, the items are still invisible. So at this point, we're right back to where we started in my OP: It still isn't working. Edited September 16, 2016 by stebbinsd
damanding
I was hesitant to offer this suggestion before because this isn't typical behavior that this fix would work on. But at this point you might as well give the universal menu fixer a shot. Its a download in the file tab of this tutorial: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12192/? Good luck. By the way the pictures that should be showing in the menu are called preview transforms. That might help with googling.
nickdunkeyson
Hi - this is something I'm having a problem with too, with a couple of mods, namely Colored Workshop Lights and Eli's Craftable Flower Pots. For comparison, Old World Plaids works fine. The preview transforms don't show up, but bizarrely the items can be built, you just can't see them and they don't appear in game. Googling comes up with this thread as the top result, annoyingly! If anyone has any ideas, anything it might be as a functionality issue, please. I'm on vanilla, and for CWL I'm using 1.7a rather than 1.8 which requires Wasteland Workshop. Thanks
