And I wish I had a single 1080 lol, I can only imagine how smooth your gameplay must be with 2, I'm rocking with a Gigabyte R9 380x right now though. Get's the job done but when I start streaming and doing doing mod coverage I'm going to want a 1080, which is well more than enough for that. I'm just interested to see how AMD is going to try and beat the 1080. The Fury's/Nano's are/were nice, but in terms of competition, only for 4k gaming. They got beat by the 980 or 980Ti, I think, for lower resolutions. I like the number of lanes AMD uses, but I feel like they went about it the wrong way :/ What CPU do you use?AMD is not planning to beat NVIDIA anytime soon what they are focusing on right now is not losing the company by making extremely high value GPUs and CPUs (the RX 480 for example has a really low cost and really good performance). Yeah they don't plan to beat NVidia anytime soon, with high-end, but if you're looking to save money then AMD is the way to go, especially since it's not exactly "picking the cheap option and being left with cheap quality". It's got a lot of bang for its buck and I wish I knew about it before i bought my 380x around Dec. 2015/Jan. 2016. I'm going to sell my 380x and upgrade, and with Direct X 12, it's very future proof.Actually I just price checked and didn't realize they changed so much, I'm going with a 1060 instead. Or....I'll just save a little more for a 1080 or 1090. If AMD lowered their price on the Rx 480 a little bit, it'd be worth it vs a 1060. Those CPU numbers bother me though, and VRAM/RAM usage. I know what raw power says, i know what benchmarks say, but actual gameplay is what counts and....it seems with the 1060 it's just a slight bit worse with VRAM management, and requires more CPU usage. I'm going to have to brush up on my knowledge, see what's new.It's like both cards do something a little better than the other, and it'll all depend on what other hardware you build with. There is 3 and 6GB version of 1060. I would model with 2 fans. Nowadays gpu auto boost clock can get very high when the card is not limited by power or high temperature. In November people will get just new 480/1060 at big discount from Newegg. I have a AMD right now a shitty one from 2011 and the fan is loud ass f*** like if i have it on and im not using the pc its driving me mad i can hear it when i down stairs Get Nvidia ASUS Strix or MSI Gaming. They are whisper quiet. Sometimes when I do gaming night parties with friends I fell asleep on a couch right next to my pc. I think they plan a 1090 release before then, no? A 1090Ti would be nice......and should last several years. But at the rate tech develops....In a couple years we may see something 10 times as strong (Jk, they release tech in a business manner, that'll probably never happen. If it wasn't about money, we'd probably be seeing 4080s or something by now. Then majority of gamers would say they don't need such cards, because they can't afford 8k monitors and then go back to playing their first person shooters at 60fps on a lesser card.It's funny that tech develops faster when it's sponsored by military or gooverment projects and then just get reinvented as mass produced daily life commodity.
