Hello everyone,

First off a little introduction.

My forum name is Ahkanu, I'm a 21 year old male living in Belgium.

At a young age i have been interested in the creation of games. This has been growing more and more and at the right age i applied for college to learn more about it. Sadly they didn't give the courses on my personal interests witch are that of designing a game. With this course out of my reach i started doing self study. This has been going on for almost a year now.

With this post i want to offer my services and all the knowledge i have on game developing to a team with a ambitious project. Below these lines you will find what i have to offer. If any info you require is missing please do not hesitate to let me know.

(Pardon me for my English as i am trying to improve myself at it)

What i have to offer for a project is the help to build up a workflow aimed towards professionalism. The method that i present you is that off the Agile game Development with Scrum. I have been studying this method for quite some time now and i can say with confidence that i have figured out how to implement the basics and some more advanced items of it into a team. This i have done in theory as well as in practice. The only experience i now posses is that of leading a small team of up to six people. This group got disbanded not because of me but because of own interests and personal affairs. I have not let this come to refrain me from going forth with the search of a good project and team to build up experience with.

In the time before the creation kit is released i will be doing a full study on the Agile Game development method to ensure the members of the team that i am capable of providing a solid lead/ co-lead for it. This does not mean that if I am accepted into a project that everything must go according to this method. I will be using this method to help improve the teams current method where it fails and/or maybe even improve the good ones they already have.

The things that my experience has handed to me are the following;

- Setting up development documents

In the precious project i was responsible for the creation of all the documentation. Since we were a small group this basically contained the entire content of the project. In the case of a big project, I am not afraid to tackle on big amounts of work. I love doing this and with each new task I am gaining more experience.

- Organizing meetings

Meeting organization was also one of my responsibilities. The team i was working with wanted to do these trough email. My method of communication relies on the help of Skype and Ventrilo (or any other). As I've seen that this is a project with member around the globe, I believe this is the best way to gain a good communication. Email is still a piece of it but the main focus will lie with the more verbal approaches.

- Organization of team members in their correct places

This i have learned trough my study of the workflow method. Manny people have there own look upon how the teams are divided. When placed in groups as they see fit the project may have a good ending and teamwork will be good. In my opinion this is mostly the case when working on smaller projects where people have to do multiple tasks from different categories. While aiming towards bigger projects this may become an obstacle. From this i have learned how the placings of each member works. This does not mean that i have any intention of messing around with the already established groups. If the teamwork is good in the group than let it be. Adapting a new order takes time and may not always be that pleasant.

- An understanding of how a game comes to be and what is required for it.*

In the college courses i have learned how the basics of almost every aspect come to be. I will be further looking into the various aspects to gain a better understanding of what it means, be this with books or help from others (this forum for example).

* With this I am not saying i know it all. I know the stages of the creation of it as well as the really basics of the rest. As we are working as a team I'm hoping i can learn from you as i hope you will from me. Problems will be solved with teamwork and a good communication between us helps a great deal in this.

In my eyes the most valued source of creating a good team and holding them together is communication. Without it a project is as good as doomed.

There are times when we will lose the enthusiasm to keep on going. A good foundation of communication will help us evade this problem. The team is one as is the project.

Best regards,

Ahkanu
