Request: Ability to rename objects

Hi

 

Is it possible to make a mod which allows to rename objects like in the enchantment table?

 

I think this could be very useful.

I doubt it, or at least I would be very surprised if it could.

 

Cells depend way to much on the name alone.

Do you mean rename objects in your inventory or objects in the game world?

 

Renaming things in the world wouldn't be likely, no, at least not anytime soon. But items in inventory may be another matter. I'm not a non-CK modder, but I would suspect that renaming inventory items wouldn't have nearly as many issues.

I wouldn't consider the idea completely dead, if you change the dependencies and Refrences manually it will work.. but modding that for other people to download would be a bit harder.

 

For example, I can change the name of the door that I enter when I go into Breezehome.. Instead it says, "Shawk's Home." with no issues so far.. Also I think I could do this with everything else in my house very easily.

 

However, this could all just be in my .ess instead of an .esp or .esm.

You misunderstood me.

 

I mean to rename objects in the inventory. If you enchant items, you can rename them by pressing the "F" key. It would be great if this feature could get cloned to the inventory menu.

Yup I misunderstood. Its much harder to rename stuff in game on the fly. Changing names of anything in the CK has been super easy in other Beth games though.

what if the "rename" option appeared in the enchantment menu all the time, even if you can't enchant the item? then you would be able to rename all the items without having to enchant them too.
