Skyrim fails to load saves/areas if it requires more than 1gb of syste

Title got cut off, heh. system memory.

My system:

i5-2500k @ 5Ghz

12GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz

GTX 470 SLI @ 900MHz

M4 SSD (installed here)

F3 Spinpoint (storage)

My problem is even if I make the .exe LAA if the loading area requires more than 1GB it will fail to load, cpu usage on the skyrim.exe will drop to 0 and nothing else will happen. I tried this after using the 4GB patch did not fix the problem.

If I reduce my settings enough to not require 1GB on loads the area loads up fine. Also once I get IG with settings on their highest and mods enabled (by loading saves from locations that require less than 1GB to load) I have no problems when the game uses more than 1GB of system memory. I've seen it up to 1.4GB so far and the only issue there was when I saved and exited I was unable to load the save.

Is there any known fix to this, or a way to load lesser settings and then raise them once IG? Woe is me, thanks for the help :(

Edit: I believe I've got a workaround for my own problem, I started testing each setting to see what was causing the problem. It turns out the culprit was distant object detail, I can't set it above Med or else loads/zoning crashes. However with it set to Med and everything else turned all the way up I have no problems with loads now..

Thoughts?
