Reading Japanese read me txt files easy peasy

So has any one else downloaded a mod with the read me files in a other language? Have found a quick and easy way to both read them and save them in a new file. I realise there will be vast amount of people that will know of this method but I`m thinking there maybe like me a few who still finding out these things.

You will need a old browser that will allow text files to be dragged and dropped into a new page. The browser will also need to have page encoding. So that`s the method. Drag and drop your text file into a new tab/ page of your browser. I am using Internet explorer that came with windows seven. Select page and then encoding and the encoding that relates to your file. Once your file is displayed in the correct font for the language of the file copy the text to Google translate. From there you can read or copy the translated text to a new note pad file. I have found though Chinese translated in Google translate is the english equivalent of the Chinese words so for me at least still unreadable. Japanese and Russian translates OK. Due to the internet explorer being a old version I do not have it as my default browser, I only use it for this translation. i have water fox as my default browser.
