As much as i would love to make Skyrim my GOTY i can't, there's more then one thing wrong with it, None of the story lines are gripping enough in my oppinion, UI sucks donkey, have to train up useless skills to get all the perks you want in your own etc etc

I'm not saying it's not good, i love it but not GOTY for me.

I have to agree...the game is really good and its fun but this isnt GOTY with so many bugs and rushed dialogues/combat/quests, i cant see it.

Why the living hell is Zelda even in the same arena as Skyrim?

First of all it's not "arena" it's the game of the year category, basically means that the good games of this year not "Best FPS of the year" "Best RPG of the year" those are separete categories and you should be aware of that,"Assassin's Creed: Revelations vs. Saints Row: The Third" is an example, just look at the other battles before you do any dumb statements.

Now, I played TLOZ when it first came out for nintindo...the golden cartridge, etc...sure, it was fun, sure, I quite liked link...but it is a kids adventure game of crap when you compare it to Skyrim.

"Nintindo" lol... "I quite liked link...but it is a kids adventure game of crap when you compare it to Skyrim" First of all you say the game is crap and for kids, and you say you liked it... Good job contradicting yourself there bro, second of all, haven't you heard? No, not the bird, im talking about Zelda's 25th anniversary, so again your statement that it's for kids is wrong and saying the game is crap is what people normally say when they have no arguments

Sorry, but whomever decided to put the two together should be kicked in the nads. Is it close? of course it will be close in votes. Why? because the 10 year olds whom have literally nothing better to do, and who's mother won't buy them skyrim due to its rating will only vote for what they know..meanwhile the others whom are either working, or actually playing the game will not even notice this poxy little survey

Like I said ""Assassin's Creed: Revelations vs. Saints Row: The Third" is an example" And again you say the game is for kids but it's way older than TES 25th anniversary, so yeah... Also, don't be stupid: "meanwhile the others whom are either working, or actually playing the game will not even notice this poxy little survey" it's like the argument on people who complained about Skyrim "ahh the people who think the game is good are busy playing it"

Skyrim V Zelda...pfft...next it will be CoD V Pong

If pong was good and popular enough to be indicated to the game of the year, I don't see why not! Skyrim is good and all but I will vote for Zelda on this one, Skyrim disapointed me in a lot of aspects and Skyward Sword was just so good, the game looks beaultiful, it is difficult, the motion+ controls are very accurate so I don't see why not and I see why a lot of reviews gave it a 10, even tough I hate reviews... So wrapping up this, your basically a fanboy with no arguments whatsoever, your only argument is: "Zelda is crap and it's for kids, Skyrim is epic and perfect and it's for grown ups!" Guess who's the child here? If you didn't I'll answer it! Well it's you!

Meh. Skyrim is good, but FAR from GotY. The difficulty is ridiculously easy from the first minute, the storylines are terrible, the AI is still awful, your decisions barely have any sort of impact on the world, the bandit chiefs are harder to defeat than the dragons, which is pathetic considering that the game is based around the threat of the dragons, the UI on PC is awful, the graphics are passable (though most textures and shadows are terrible, at least there's a nice variety in presentation), dialogues are still laughable...

Honestly, for GotY I'd pick either Batltefield 3 or Arkham City. I'd go for TOR, but it comes on the 20th of December, so I doubt it counts.

''The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim has been praised as the greatest interactive experience ever in the history of all time''

- True, has been praised by bought review sites and braindead bethesta fanboys.

'' Skyrim is an open-world RPG with hundreds of hours of gameplay''

- Quantity over quality, motto of bethsoft, besides it's not a RPG.

'' ..and infinite dragons''

- and they are all dumber then chickens, and poorly animated.

'' need I say more?''

- No.

'' FUS RO DAH!''

- fusrodah yourself and have a nice day.

wait, I am confused.

So, thanks to the ops for pointing this survey out (not gonna vote though, not going to register with em),

Skyrim V Zelda...pfft...next it will be CoD V Pong

I'm sorry, but CoD is clearly going to lose that fight :)

And if you ignore the bugs, Skyrim is indeed the best open world game released this year in sheer size, magnitude of quests and with an immersive storyline that keeps you interested from day one. Nothing else compares in my opinion, this year. FPS war games on the other hand can never achieve a truly interesting storyline when they fundamentally rely on the age old "shoot this, kill that, blow up that". I guess I'm just bored of 'modern warfare' games.

I really don't see the bugs in Skyrim as a problem. Whatever Bethesda doesn't fix, the modding community will.

Skyrim is a good game, but its got too many flaws for it to be game of the year. Bethesda doesn't deserve it this time around. I would have preferred they delayed the release date of the game so they could do some real testing and fix the worst of the issues before the game was released. Now I see them making patches to fix rare glitches while still leaving some of the worst and most common ones in the game. Like the glitch for the house in Windhelm, and the quest attached to it. Also there are a few glitches that make the main quest not able to be completed if you do some side quests before you advance the main quest. Its obvious that Bethesda did very little if any testing on this game before they released it. Did the people at Bethesda even play the game they made?

I can't rate a game based on the potential contribution the modding community might make to it, and its only fair to judge the game on how it is originally presented by the ones who developed/created the game. I'm not terribly impressed. I'd knock a full 1 point off the score of the game just for the terrible UI, so that would bring it down to 9.0 before I even get around to picking it apart further. It doesn't deserve any higher than an 8/10.

I think Dark Souls was the best game I played this year, it also had flaws, but I thought it was more fun than Skyrim.

Ungratefull!

Just be glad they've let us participate in the beta testing!

Wait a moment...

Its hard for some people to ignore bugs when they render the game unplayable and even with ignoring bugs the game is so unbalanced in many ways that one has to ask him/her self if they actually played it.

Dont get me wrong here, i want beth to win, but becouse of creating an awesome game, not becouse of blind fanboism (not pointing at anyone here).

This really makes me mad.

At the same time I really love Skyrim and really hate Beth for what they did with it at certain points. Bug... I was really hyped up, but I knew they will be there and I can tolerate most of them. Except for those which stop you from finishing the main lines. But ok, happens, the worse part is that the things I find to be scariest are not bugs.

That's just something noone cared to test or port to PC, or the skipping in stories? And why not go the Morrowing way more than the Fable 3 and Dungeon Siege 3 ways?Weird... Then the DRM stealthy shot came. Broke the game for me. If I depended on Beth, I can't play. Then the patch came. If I depended on Beth, I can't play at all again, I would be just watching launcher in a loop. But fixed that as well. Noticed it screwed up a lot of things rather than fixing them ingame.

I think Skyrim fits perfectly into "A diamond in a pile of shi*." while in this case, they brought most of the shi* on this diamond on purpose, for whatever the reason is.

Bethesda wanted to bring us a cool game, later good patch. One of it failed a bit, the other completly, mostly because they couldn't be bothered to test it properly. Well. And so I and many people can't be bothered to spend 5s by logging in to vote, even tho we may like the game. Petty revenge, yes, next time I'm going to tie Todds shoelaces together...right after removing them from his boots.

But they can still redeem themselfs and show it can be THE game and that they are just a bit clumsy. That we will know by the start of the next year.

Ahh. Guess I needed to filter again, after all my guards turned violet for no reason.

Yeah i asked myself many times wtf was this good for...sometimes i just dont get their behaviour.

Skyrim had defenatly potencial to be that awesome game, its better then vanila oblivion, playable and fun ...but in the core its the same old oblivionish system we have here, with many unlogical/stupid things that slowly destroy the believeability of the world wich was created for that purpose and thats something i cant just pretend not being there, but ofcourse thats just my opinion.
