rurutia8
Hi my name is Rachel, got a few questions. Any input would be very much appreciated. I'm building a desktop, what kind of graphics card should I purchase to run skyrim as smoothly as possible with mods? (plan on using a LOT of mods) I want the best possible display without it being overkill. In fact, what kind of processor do you guys recommend? Is an 8 core processor overkill? Is 4 GB of memory enough? Thanks :) Edited December 5, 2011 by rurutia8
FOXTELxxJP
Hi Rach, OK sort of a tricky question. So my old specs were i7 4.2ghz, windows 64bit, 4gig ram, nvidia 450 gts and it would run skyrim with no mods on all ultra settings with ease and no CTD's but skyrim is so much better with mods : ) and after about 5 texture packs and Eshaders........CTD after CTD after Ctd until insanity assume's control!. Now i have exactly the same gear exept i upgraded my video cards -2 gtx 590's sli and i have not had a CTD in about the 90 hours of play since.Cpu and Gpu's a bit over kill though, a basic i7 would do BUT it seems skyrim chews up so much video memory with mods that should at least run 2 560ti sli or above if modding. Hope this helps...PS good luck with your build : ). Edited December 5, 2011 by FOXTELxxJP
rurutia8
Really? So I'm going to need 2 graphics cards? I do plan on playing with mods. If I get two of the same type of graphics card, they should work together no problem, right? The 590s are a bit pricy...if 560s will suffice then that's a better option. yuikhee
Skyrim ran great on High Settings, and OK on Ultra setting with below specs but after about 1GB+ mods (game looks indescribably better with texture upgrade mods), it started to run slow (annoying to play), so I am planning to upgrade my computer. This is what I have (get something a lot better than this.. lol. Intel ® Core i3 CPU 540 @ 3.07GH 3.07 GH4.00 GB RAM64-bit Op.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 So wondering if anyone could post what I could possibly upgrade (like a new graphic card or new motherboard with Quad processor or just get a new comp). And what is this about two graphic cards running? Didn't even think that was possible.
FOXTELxxJP
Yeah rach the 2 560ti's are more than enough, as i said the 590's OVERKILL, i only got them because i got them on sale at 900$ for both compared to usual 900$ each. So 2 560's are going to kick arse : )
