Daedric glow color

Throttlekitty- we're seeing textures, are you saying a newer .xml is available that would help us out here? If so I would LOVE a download link. I'm not so good at knowing what the most current file is. Thank you a lot!!!

Ghogiel: By gum, it worked! Thank you sir! I got a yellow green out of it. I guess I'll start poking around with random numbers, unless Throttlekitty's new .xml lets us see something new...

Sorry, my linking finger must've gotten tired.

You can check 'commits' to see when I updated last, the most recent is always on this frontpage. To download, click into nif.xml (in the grey box), then 'raw' in the grey header for the file. This gives you a direct link to the most recent that can be saved from the browser.

Thanks throttlekitty!! I really appreciate having a current link. :D

Unfortunately, this new version still considers the matrix33 unknown floats as unknown and the glow affect can still only be seen in game (in nifskope its just white). Am I doing something wrong, or am I on the right path?

You shouldn't be seeing a Matrix33 at all using what I linked. Did you save that and overwrite nif.xml in your NifSkope directory? (This is assuming you're still looking in EffectShaderProperty, where the glow color is defined.)

I'd guess that you're also using an older version of NifSkope as well, now that you mention that field. My nif.xml is more current than what's available here, so install nifskope then my nif.xml.

I did that first step, but your guess was 100% accurate; i had an older version of nifskope. I installed the new nifskope, then I copied your .xml. Now, instead of seeing matrix33 I see "Diffuse Color." It gives me what I assume is a hex code, and even shows me what color the effect will be!!! Yay! Yipee! Woot!

Haha, my sincere thanks to you throttlekitty. Thanks for updating the file, for troubleshooting, and for helping me out! I'm pumped! In the meantime I've been working on the texture files, so it'll be exciting to see what they look like with the new effect hue. Thank you so much!

EDIT: I checked in game and it works perfectly. Thank you!

hey guys! i don't want any kind of credit i do not deserve :)

i was in the same situation like you are but then, after some researches, i found than on 12/11 dudes at niftools released a new version of nifskope which actually can read and modify the emissive color of the glow

here it is:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/niftools/files/nifskope/1.1.0/

i used the release candidate 2 but i see right now there's also a newer rc3 :)

in conclusion, if something, i'm only the first one who noticed the nifskope update :P

Cancrena: Thanks for letting us know, and congratulations on the quick find!

Burntbiscuit: yay!

Throttlekittey: Me too! And I'm just glad you told me what you did! When you say " inb4 daedric rainbow mod. " I'm not quite sure what you mean.

Also, since you seem to be in the know (we're actually downloading a nif.xml that you created right?) Do you have any idea when they'll make an import script for blender / where we'll be able to find it when they do? I'm currently able to export an oblivion nif from nifskope as a .obj, and then import the .obj into blender and see textures and everything. Trying to do the same with a Skyrim.nif gives me the model in blender, but it lacks texture. I'm using blender 2.6.

Thanks again man, I seriously appreciate you help!
