don't yet have a copy of skyrim for PC, but have a basic question. Seemed to notice the filepath for most mods is steam>steamapps etc. is there even such a thing as a nonsteam version? Is a steam version of this required?

sorta new to PC gaming and i've heard terrible terrible things about steam.

just to be clear, i already have a copy of this on 360, and wish to play on PC solely for mods, but if it cant be done without steam i'll just save the money.

Yes all versions use steam, including the disk version you purchase in shops, the only other version heard but not confirmed personally that does not use steam is the Russian version published by 1c, but that is also region locked to Russia and obviously in Russia to probably.

So basically its steam or nothing.

You can run steam in offline mod but you cannot run the game without steam, it is tied to the game exe file because it uses steamworks for the DRM.
