Suggested mods for a first time player?

Hey everyone! I was hoping someone could enlighten me here, I'm looking to play through Morrowind for the first time and I was wondering what mods people would recommend. I'm mostly after graphics mods and fixes so the original gameplay is still intact. That being said, I don't want to spend all day downloading and installing mods like I have done far too many times in the past with Oblivion :P

Ha ha I know what you mean about spending all day installing mods for Oblivion. Man, then fixing each one that have a conflict or weren't installed right, missing file or update....man it was tiring.

 

Now for Morrowind I'd recommend:

Better Bodies, Morrowind Code Patch and Unofficial Morrowind patch. Nothing else.

 

There are tons of texture replacers for the world but I recommend that except for Better Bodies you not use any of them yet. See the world as Bethesda had made it (except for those utterly horrible, despicably ugly and grotesquely abnormal bodies. Why they ever let those past alpha, let alone beta should be taken out back and...well, you get the idea). Once you see the world as it is and play for a while, you will note things that you would like different and then you can choose wisely. Morrowind's game engine doesn't play as nicely as Oblivion's with mods so you should be extremely picky about what mods you will eventually add to your game. So many Morrowind mods are not made well and can potentially cause errors and headaches. Decide what you want changed first and then seek out the mods, including texture replacers after that. You may get in game and find that you like some of the textures just fine as they are. Some are better than others.

No problem, I never played Morrowind myself, but those are the few best known mods.(Also, my father played the game and he said Better Bodies is a must)

i only ever played w Tamriel Rebuilt, which i saved for after the main quest, as a "retreat place" to "go vacationing" :]

I wouldn't go for GIANTS, at least not for the first playtrough.

In fact, I think it's better to stick with cosmetics mods only, so you can see things as they were intended. But the bodies and faces are ugly and don't really...Well. Just get the cosmetics mods :biggrin:

What about a magicka regen mod? Cause im sure not many people want to take a nap after every skirmish.
