No matter what I try I cannot get Steam to launch Skyrim at all.

I've tried everything from updating Windows & drivers to re-installing to verifying cache to attempting offline to launching from the system folder to changing User Account from Admin to Standard & back again to deleting the client.blob & SkyrimPrefs.ini in the steam folder & god knows what else...

Any ideas anyone ? !!!

What exactly does Steam & Skyrim do when you attempt to launch?

Does it load the Launcher and then reload the Launcher when you click on the "Play" option?

Please post what you do when launching the game, what mods(if any) you have installed, and what(if any) files you have changed, (INI etc.)

That`s the same thing happened to me. Yesterday I could play with no problem at all...

No mods installed either.

Happened to me too, I just changed my steam server from NY to Boston, and Skyrim launched immediately. Try switching to the next closest server to you.

How did you do that??

Yeah you guys aren't the only ones. I was playing it last night and I shut down my comp around 2 am. So I got up at around 10 am and when I try playing it, it will go back to the 'Play' screen..... so yeah you guys aren't alone....kinda funny that it was working fine at 2 am but it won't work 8 hours later.....

Alright guys I found an easy fix for it.

1. Start up steam.

2. Go to your library and find Skyrim.

3. Right-click on it and select properties.

4. Go to the Local Files tab.

5. Click 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache'....

6. Let it do it's thing.

7. Start Skyrim back up and play.

Oh and right after I did that the game patched so I don't know if it's thanks to the patch or if it's what I did so good luck to you guys and hope this helped.
