MDRud216
how do you create a new item (in my case a ring) in the Construction Set :construction: using a model from some other ring? use steps and simple terms please because I am new to the CS and am trying to familarize myself with it. Thanks -MDR
Almelexia
You go in to the clothing part in the render window and changes the id on a ring that allready exists. NAd when you press save a dialogue will come up that it stands, "Will you create a new object" klick "yes" not "no" and if you do that all the rings in the game will have the changed id. Now good luck Almelexia
Lord Of The Cheese
you can do this two ways:way 1 1.find out the location and name of the mesh and icon of the ring u want it to look like-the easiest way to do this would be to double click the name of the ring in the CS, then there should be a box that pops up, there should be 2 paths, one for the art file(mesh that u see when it is in game, will be a .nif) and the icon (the picture in the inventory will be .tga, .bmp, or .dds)2. right click in the clothing item window and select "new"3. click on the add art file botton and find the mesh file(the mesh path from step 1)4. click on the add inventory image botton and fine the icon (the icon path from step 1)5. name it and the ID (its good to get into the habbit of putting a little call sign in front of it. for example i would put something like LOTC_ring_01 or something like that, replace LOTC with something that u will, use an few letter appreviation of your name or the name of the mod, this prevents errors when using multiple mods) way 21. go to the clothing tab 2. select the ring u want to use3. double click it to bring up the editing box(or right click, "edit")4. rename the rind ID5. done hope that helps...hmm seems i took to long..and some1 beat me to it.....
MDRud216
I think Lord of the cheases' 'way 1' is what I want because it sounds like his 'way 2' and almalexia's way sounded as though all...lets say common rings (if that is what i used) would turn into the 'Ring of Power that I am making and that would be bad. You know, ultra powerful bums running around because they couldn't afford an expensive ring. Am I correct?
Kethruch
If you simply pull in the data for the common ring, change it, and then when it asks if you want to create a new item say 'yes', the common rings will remain, and your ring of power would be a separate item. You do have to be careful doing this, because if you do not say 'yes' to create a new item, then you are correct that all common rings would then have your new capabilities. MDRud216
alright, I am predicting that i will ask more Q's here in the future but for now I have only 1. I have made my custom enchantment for the ring but cannot find it in the list of available enchantments to use. Where is it? and how do I attach it to my ring. P.S. This is an experimental Mod for me as it is also my first. I am planning to make a detailed quest that gives me an oppurtunity to learn the functions of the editor. This means placing/designing NPC's, Making a new mesh for the demon that holds the ring before you, and scripting. All of this I will eventually ask for help with or at least a good tutorial site. Also this has nothing to do with LOTR.
cmac
In the little bar that says Enchanting, scroll down until you find the name of your enchantment. Then click save, and place the item in the game. F drops the item onto the closest surface.
MDRud216
well actually that was the problem...it was not in the bar for my custom ring. I just checked to see if it was in another bar for a normal item and found it in the custom ring. I don't know how I missed it the first time actually. sorry. P.S. cmac
That's a lot to explain in a post. Here's the Tips and Shortcuts thread for the CS. Here's a tutorial for facial animation. Here's some general tutorials by Bethesda.
