the_shadowrider
I was thinking about this mod for a long time, back when I first bought oblivion, but the only thing that holding me back is...scripts. thats weak i know, but I'll learn someday. the mod would bring a 35-50% chance of having a ring not fit ( less if your a nord, sausage fingers!). Buy chance you happen to have a ring that doesn't fit, you could bring it to a jeweler, like "the red diamond" or whatever that place is, and have it enlarged. then have a 10-25% chance of it breaking in the shop, and have them give you, gold or something. anything after that, i have no idea, but it be cool. god knows I'd use it. i have the interior(s) all set up, just need like ring scripts and stuff. email me at [email protected]
ninja_lord666
This falls into the same category as, " Why does the same armour fit a male bosmer and a female orc?" Simply put, making different armour for different genders/races would and thousands of models and textures. However, if all you're doing is scripting, then it can be done. However, you run into the problem of, "Why would I use this mod if all it does is make things unnecessarily annoying?" Also, how is this supposed to work on something like the Ring of Khajiti or Namira's Ring? You can't honestly expect a simple jeweler to be able to reshape daedric artifacts. That would need excessive amounts of magicka that almost no one in Tamriel has, and those that do have that power, are too powerful to care. the_shadowrider
not really, i'm just thinking on "above practical" mode. no need to use magic. resizing real rigs doesn't take magic, well not that i'm aware. i did not say anything about armor or models/textures.and for "unnecessarily annoying", if i made it, and you didn't like it, DON'T DOWNLOAD IT, what if someone else wants the mod. yourawebbitch.gif

While no new textures would be needed, you would needs dozens of new models to be made, and then you would need to attach individual scripting to each ring to limit who would be able to wear it. Then there's making all the variations of all the rings, and distributing them in a way that NPCs walking around are wearing something that would fit them. Even trying to make two sizes instead of one would require more effort than it's worth. Not to mention that having a system which uses that many scripted items isn't exactly a good idea. Keep in mind, unlike with some of the modded equipment out there this sort of thing would have dozens of references for some types of rings, all those scripts on inventory items can lead to significant save bloat. Such a mod would also not work on any newly modded rings.
the_shadowrider
i'm just talking about puting a script on all ring, well, not for deadra rings. something about "magicka need be applied". i still dont see the need for models ant textures. Vagrant0
i'm just talking about puting a script on all ring, well, not for deadra rings. something about "magicka need be applied". i still dont see the need for models ant textures.Even if you ignore the model situation, you'll need dozens of scripts since you'll need to make several variations of each ring according to size. Again, the issue of the models is only asthetic. The real problem is all the scripting required to make something like this work. All those scripts, no matter how they were handled, would just become a problem after awhile, for the reasons stated above. It's just impractical and probably wouldn't be something most people would want to use.
freddycashmercury
As a non-modder, your average joe, so to speak, I would say that this mod, although interesting, sounds a bit frustrating. If you bring in a an expensive ring or something, and it breaks during resizing, that could be very frustrating! Especially something like the Ring of Khajiti.
