Dilemma

I’ve debated if I should post this in a new thread, as I prefer to append existing threads whenever possible.

But as I browsed and searched, the topic kept niggling at me. So here goes.

I have a Dwemer Cuirass, an Ebony Cuirass, and a Dedric Cuirass. Obviously the Ebony one is better then Dwemer (but not by a whole lot of points), and the Dedric is better by a handful of points. But here’s the kicker. My Dwemer has “Resist Normal Weapons 11%”.

Now I know not all enemies attack with weapons (trolls and ogres use their hands), but by and large many do. What are some thoughts – which would ‘you’ keep, given the choice?

I am a Master of Heavy Armor, so weight isn’t an issue. I’m lv.15 with this Character.

I also have Ebony Grieves and Orc Grives. My Ebony is normal, but my Orc has “spell absorption 14pts”. It seems to be working nicely, so I’m reluctant to switch up to a ‘better’ set when the lower set has such a good ability. Again, which would ‘you’ choose?

My thrid object may be a no-brainer but still:

I have Spellbreaker (that very nice 30% reflect shield), and an Orc shield labeled, "Shied of the Unbreakbale". It has an enchantment 12% shield (more than you can enchant at only 10%). As far as raw defense, this Orc Shield is hands down better, but should I stop wielding Spellbreaker?

For your third point, having played with a mod that allows you to use equipment dropped by arena opponents, the Gray Aegis (sp?) is very hard to give up even as I move through the higher quality shields. It is only steel, but has a 100% magicka resistance, making it very very handy against mages.

For your other two, I would go with the ebony in both cases, this is mostly because I just like the look and feel of the ebony armour, and I tend to wear and use items that I like the look of, like the fine steel sword, as opposed to those that have better stats.

For me, appearance is everything. I use the Dark Seducer armor because it looks good. There are countless armours with better defense and better enchantments (not hard as Dark Seducer amrour is unenchanted).

Between Dwemer, ebony, and Daedric, it depends on your character type. If (s)he's evil, go with Daedric. If not, go with Dwemer (Resist normal weapons is very good at lower levels. However, once you get to around level 20, it doesn't become as useful so switch to ebony. Also, an added bonus for the ebony and Daedric, when you start getting the Transcendent Sigil Stones (level 17 or higher), you really get great enchantments: 20 shield, 30% resist magicka...

About your greaves, it depends on whether or not you're a fighter or battlemage, if the former, ebony, if the latter, orcish.

For the shields, Definitely Spellbreaker. It is by far the best shield in the game...that you are supposed get... Also, once you start getting a lot of higher leveled goods, the extra armour points become literally useless as defense maxes out at 85. Although, you typically reach that more with modded gear...I wonder why... :whistling: ;D

My AC is already in the 70's and I know it caps out at 85. I didn't consider the arena shield because it's technically cheating to get it.

My character is majoring in luck (luck already at 68), and i must say it seems that because of that, the spell absorption works more often than other characters. Plus I have the bladeturn hood and a necklace of reflection (20% spell reflection). this gives me a 60% spell reflection (very good against those necromancers and summoners). I also have Narmina's ring (I think it's reflect damage 12% and reflect spell 10%) and a Grand ring of Agies (shield 18%).

Once I get to Kavatch and start getting sigil stones, I suppose I should try and get one that has spell apsorption 50pts.. then I could go with the higher end grieves. For now I'll stick with the Dwemer (thanks for the advice).

As for the currias, I should probably find a good sigil for "resist normal weapons" or "reflect damage". I find reflect damage to be the most useful. Once I get a stone, I suppose I'll switch up to Ebony (I like the look of Ebony over Dedric for some reason).

I don't use armor mods. The only mod I use is MMM mainly because I enjoy not being the only character others attack on sight and MMM seems to work with goblin totem staves and goblin wars. (along with the official mods of Frostccraig and Dunbarrow).

I'll stick with spellbreaker. I admit it's probably the most 'kicking' shield you can get and narmina's ring is probably the best ring to get (maybe aside fro the circlet of omnipotence).

Again thanks for the advice... and more advice is always welcome along with others' posts about if they have trouble deciding on gear. ^_^
