BeingShotAt
the stickied topic for modding tutorials didn't seem to have any on how to do something as simple as replace an audio file, how would I accomplish this?
AGreatWeight
First, make sure that your new audio is in .xwm format (if it's sfx) or .fuz (if it's dialogue)To replace audio, simply rename the replacer so it has the same file name as the file being replaced, then copy, paste, overwrite. Make sure you create a backup of whatever file your overwriting first! If you need to convert .wav etc to a sound format that Fallout4 can use, there are plenty of converters available over on Skyrim nexus. AGreatWeight
Manually download the Bethesda Archive Extractor (have a read of the description on the main page)http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/78/?and use that to extract the contents of the Fallout4 - Sounds.ba2 (it'll be in Steam/SteamApps/common/Fallout4/Data folder)This contains all the sound files that the game uses, and it's useful to have them all for future modding. https://youtu.be/ovZD5xRZC5Ahttps://youtu.be/onfwF4EmuqU
dimedius
What setting would one change in order to load custom files? Say a template uses a 10mm but you don't want to use a 10mm for sound, rather point to newly created sound files for a custom weapon?
AGreatWeight
I think you'd have to delve into the .nif file for the custom weapon to point it to the sfx you want to use. I think I saw a reference relating to sound played whilst digging around in a .nif file a few days ago. Can't be certain though.
