mermaid8
I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this or if this is the wrong place to ask for help but I have no other place to turn. I recently just started encountering extreme lag during gameplay, choppiness when aiming the camera in any direction and choppiness when I move in any direction and serious and sudden FPS drops. I was running skryrim with around 100 mods and on ultra specs without any performance issues at all except for the occasional CTD which is just a side effect of modding. When I modded I used LOOT and Tes5edit to make sure no mods conflicted and my load order was clean. My rig is more than well equipped and has never had performance issues with skyrim in the past, I was able to constantly hover around 60fps on ultra settings without any issues and now suddenly tons of lag, choppiness, and my computer is overheating as if I were trying to run ARMA 3 and Just cause 3 both on Ultra settings at the same time. In the past my computer would overheat more when watching Netflix than when running skyrim and now all of the sudden it's reacting odd and only to skyrim. I've tried turning off all of my mods, deleting skyrim and all of it's files, reinstalling the game and starting a new save with no success. I've tried turning on triple buffering and messing around in the NVIDA control panel to see if that might help and also experimenting with FXAA and modifying my shadow settings because I've heard that can cause performance issues despite having no problems with it in the past. I've tried disabling motion blur and verifying my game cache to no avail. I've tried updating all of my drivers too with no success. I rolled my drivers back however because they made it impossible to play FNV and Fallout 3. I don't know what else to try. This issue seems to only be effecting skyrim but also seems to be an issue with my computer, however that contradicts itself because none of my other games are experiencing performance issues at all. I've tried running on the lowest settings possible and am still overheating and having these issues. Has this happened to anyone else and is there any solution out there? I love skyrim and it's unplayable now. I'm considering pressing the panic button and resetting my PC completely and losing all of my files just for this damn game and I'm not even sure if that will fix it. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I'll take any help I can get at this point.

Project579
remember to activate vsync on Skyrim and to lock the frames at 60.
