Jaypaul97
Okay. Lemme just say: I'm not an elitist. I think consoles are great things. I have an Xbox 360 myself. But here's what comes when you throw consoles(with the obvious 12YO kids who's mothers have coin in their purses that companies want) in the mix with games:-Crysis 2: would've looked better than even BF3 had consoles not existed -Skyrim: would've looked a lot nicer as well. Lots of other things PC could've handled but consoles held back. Simply Cus Beth needs that 12YO mommy coin-BF3: console port=so many things scrapped becUse consoles stood there and said "I wanna play!" So as much as I HATE to backstab my brethren(I hate doing it), I gotta say: consoles gotta go. Or at least in the minds of devs. But again: let's face it. Consoles got a lot of young kids who are good at getting their moms to buy them games. That's a lot of revenue. And naturally devs would want to make the consolers happy. I'd be fine with it, but we're seeing the effect it has on games, not just graphics. I'm not trying to fight or put down consoles, just conversing on how PC games are being hurted so much by consoles.
Thoreai
If graphics would be the only thing im worried in skyrim about, i would be a happy happy person.
NexusRanger
As nicely worded as this thread would appear, it is clearly little more than flame bait and thus has no place here. It has been reported will likely be removed in short order. Move along folks. There's nothing to see here.
natelovesyou
It's not even well-written... Yeah, move along folks... Nothing is accomplished in this thread. It's been said better 100 times before.
RitualBlack
Its not so much that consoles have to go, its the current generation that has to go. When the xbox original first came out games could be made for both, and they were pretty much even. It also came to something like $800 after a few games and 2 controllers when it first came out. Not in actual hardware, but after console optimization you could get near equal graphics. Now the 360 and PS3 are ancient and Microsoft and Sony are to busy gouging people pockets to release something new. The general public is brainwashed thinking that consoles and computers are equivalent when it comes to games, and in a sense they are correct. Since publishers obviously want as much money as fast as they can get it you get a COD or assassins creed game out every year on the same engine. Reviewers say WOW! Breathtaking graphics and solid gameplay. Why change whats working? If more people understood that the 360 has been out of date for 3 years, and that a console is only good for about 3 years after its release than maybe gaming computers wouldn't seem so expensive. The world of game advancement both graphical and game play could keep on chugging. Some may like the simple plug in and play, and are fine with the low quality of games that are being released because they don't pick them apart down to the bone like we do. When I watch a game trailer or game play I am often disappointed as I notice "misaligned UV map, poor use of prop spawning, low resolution gound textures, overly rigid/large collision boxes, blocky models, heavily scripted sequences, and choppy animations" just to list a few. We will probably always be stuck years behind what games are capable of, and unfortunately I doubt anything will change. I also have consoles. There is a need for them as people don't want to have to bother with all the hassle of computers, which is why they will always be more successful. Nekrafilia
Hmmmm, lets do the math. Make a pc only game and sell 1 million copies. Make a pc and console game and sell 7 million copies. Good thing you're not in charge of making important business decisions....
stars2heaven
What a terrible OP. Such an obvious straw man it's not even worth commenting on. Not that I'm a fan of consoles or anything, I don't even own one, but I really hate bad arguments. You mad a really bad argument.
Lachdonin
If it means more money to make larger games with more things to do, i don't care if they put a parental control that akes lollypops and stars shoot out when i cut smeones head off. Consoles increase the player base, allowing for greater sales volume, which means more money for the producers and more games for us. I will admit, the actual differances in different systems require something of a deft touch when designing games, but by and large i don't think they did poorly this time around. As for replacing the current gen consoles... Not gonna happen. not for awhile. The Wii U is unlikely to have the same capabilities as either the PS3 or the Xbox, and we are at the point with technical limitations that the only way we will see a noticable increase in graphics and preformance of a console is if they get considerably bigger, and pricer. Why bother when you can just make a computer?
TotalRookie
At least release better consoles more often, but like someone said above, I wish graphics were the only issue. Not necessarily a bad game, it's actually a great game just... different than expected. We've all got opinions, I respect yours.
