I recently discover there are so much mods that makes the game look BEAUTIFUL! and much better I can never go back to playing vanilla oblivion again.

anyway after putting all mods my game crashes alot usually outside wilderiness and upon loading new area (say leaving town or exiting a building)

heres what I got and my load order.

I got Qarls text pack 3 + shivering ilse + KotN + all the official mods too

anyone can suggest a solution?

I got a rather high end machine too

winxp sp2

2.5gig ram

core2duo 3.2ghz

raptor 10k 150gig HD

8800GTX 768 meg ram.

There's no file conflict that I know of. I'm thinking it might be all those high resolution textures. but DANG! I can't go back to low res trexutre and crappy sounds when I've experienced what user created mods can do

Your mod list doesn't show all of them, but right off I see two that have caused strange problems for me. The official DLC Horse armor and Salmo's Bakery. Salmos cause crashes when entering certain buildings. The horse armor caused the game to crash when I tried to start with some mods, Don't remember which ones though. It took me a long time to narrow my problem down to Horse Armor because I just couldn't believe my crashes were due to an 'official' Bethesda mod.

I see that you have converted many of your mods to OMOD. a great format, but from what I have seen, it's not really needed when the mod is just a single ESP without any textures, meshes or other files attached.

If you are interested, my troubleshooting procedure is to disable half of my mods, then try to rum. Then if it works or not, I know which half has the problem. I then add half of the ones I removed back and try it. this narrows the problem down quickly - cuts it in half each time. Then when I have identified the likely offender, I add ll except that one back and try. If that works, I add the suspected bad on in to see if that causes the crash again.

Also, if windows is running anything else in background, such as an IM program or a antivirus or anything that tries to check the internet whether it is on or not it will crash. and there is a Hewlett Packard printer driver that has been known to cause random crashes. If you don't know how to disable those programs, post back and I (or someone else) will give you some help.

In Oblivion.ini, change bMusicEnabled to 0. If this doesn't fix it (and you want music), change it back.

The .ini is located in %HOMEPATH%\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion

so that make it so that there is no music in the game :(.

anyway I tried to disable my mods in half and then the other half.

seems to CTD too.

now trying

- remove video codec packs in windows

- updated my video card driver

- disable "full hardware" sound acceleration in DXDIAG

If dividing the problem in half didn't work, then try removing all mods. Sometimes you have to remove certain mods, then start the game, save and exit, then remove others. That happened to me once when I wanted to remove all mods for troubleshooting. After removing all at once, the game would crash on the loading screen. When I removed them in smaller groups it worked.

Another note. Several times I have had the game crash at a particular spot. then on reloading crash at the same spot again. After several tries, I turn around and go the other way. Then, later in the game and after another save, go back to that spot from a different direction and it works fine. All of these have been outdoors. I have never found an explanation for these.

If you do find your problem please post back to let us know what you found. It might help someone else.

Having no music is better than having the game crash when combat music switches to non-combat music.

thanks everyone but I figured it out.

after stopping half the mod and the the other half and still crashing. and then I realie it might not be oblivion mods.

after a night of trial and error and googling. I figured it out and fixed it. (narrow it down)

I have to:

1- uninstall my codec pack

2- set my dxdiag to "standard" instead of "full hardware" sound acceleration

3- rename my windows/system32/mpegac.ax file to something else.

4- everythime I start the game I shut down all unnecessary services and background programs like firewall etc..

Pain in the buns since all my other games run flawlessly wihtout doing any of that but I'm willing to put up with it just because Oblivion with all those mods is such an incredible and beautiful game.

btw: I put more mods in now and it still runs fine including martains monster :)
