cduron
I was browsing the uploaded mod section while stumbling on a mod with some rather nice textures. When i tried to install it though i doesn't seem to work. What i did was the following: 1) Install this 'http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1013' to make skyrim run better with extended textures (or so he says). Simply opened the file and extracted 'skyrim4gb' and 'skyrim4gb_helper' to my desktop and through this skyrim runs perfectly (not sure how to check if this does anything since it doesn't improve any visuals) 2) Install this 'http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2146' to improve textures of several surfaces. When walking around though i didn't see any textures that had changed. Like the install guide says i extracted the 'textures' folder to the 'data' section. Is it perhaps possible that the mod doesn't work because i installed another mod before i tried this (improved nightingale texture mod, this one works). This only affected one piece of armour so i would be pretty surprised if this interfered with the other mod.Another reason why it doesn't work might be because i tinkered with the 'Skyrimprefs' file a little to add extra shadows to some objects and improve the overal look of water surfaces. This is all i can tell you, i'm not sure why it doesn't work honestly. While i'm at it i would like to ask one more question and that's what the 'skyim4gb' exactly does. I have a clue about what it does but since i really don't know much about computers i could use some help. Thanks in advance.

Rennn
Skyrim 4GB doesn't improve visuals on its own; it allows 4GB of RAM to be used, resolving pink textures and that sort of thing, and allowing for more stable gameplay with other texture mods. For many people it stops crashes. You also must launch Skyrim each time with the special 4GB launcher, and only use the normal launcher for changing options and stuff like that. If you use the normal launcher, it'll just run Skyrim without it having 4GB to use and will instead got o the default amount.
cduron
Ah, thanks a lot. Kind've disturbing to know that i have 12GB of ram sitting there mostly doing nothing :P. I did know that it didn't imprive visuals on it's own though, but i still want to thank you for your answer as it leveled up my computer knowledge skill again. The question why the texture mod doesn't work however still remains. If anyone has any ideas what might've triggered this feel free to reply.
