Hello friends.

Two things:

1) Sorry for poor english

2) I do not want anyone to do my job. Before creating this topic, I searched a lot for a solution.

=================================================================================================================

Ok, the thing is, my FNV freeze and/or CTD EVERYTIME after (with luck) 40 minutes, more or less. Sometimes is 30 minutes, sometimes is even less.

My Notebook is:

Intel Core 15-5200U

Memory: 8GB DDR3

Windows 10

Nvidia Geoforce 920M with 2GB dedicated VRAM. The driver is 10.18.13.6839. Cant roll back to another version, the PC dont give me this option.

Here the list of things that I done

1) Clean install, play without mods

2) Clean install, play with mods. I follow the Dirty Weasel´s tutorial and in another clean install, i follow the Gopher tutorial. Bouth tutorial sugest NVAC, NVSR and YUP. I also try the current beta version of NVAC.

My list of mods

I clean all mods with FNVEdit

3) Made a Install as Fear and Loath in New Vegas recomend, outside Programs Files (x86)

4) Play in high, medium and low config

5) Made that bUseThreadedAI=1 iNumHWThreads=2 thing

6) Try limited the FPS in 30 fps

7) Disable my cardboard and play the game with the Intel HD Graphics 5500. Still no luck.

 Run the game in the compatibility mode. Try every windows in the list.

9) Verify integrity of game cache

..............................

I'm running out of options here. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the help.

For your CTD issue after playing for a while: read this entry in the "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide in the wiki.

Use your nVidia 920M instead of the onboard Intel video card. Integrated video cards don't have the VRAM of addon video boards, which makes them use system RAM which is slower and better used otherwise.

Please read the "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article. It covers things most video guides don't mention or just gloss over. For instance, heed the advice to avoid the game's built-in "auto-save" feature. It offers better alternatives.

You don't mention FNV4GB. This is also discussed in the "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article.

Just to you know, I read your post this saturday, but I will always need time to make all the possible tests. So far, not good. Gonna try diferents values to this DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB thing. Was 240 and I tested 448.

Ah yes, I use FNV4GB.

Another thing: NVSR seems not to be working. I tried to limit the amount of FPS in 30 through "sr_New_Vegas_Stutter_Remover.ini" and it does not happen, it varies between 60 and 45.

Also your load order is a mess.

I sort the mods with loot. I think is okay in the MO. Dont know why looks like a mess in the Wrye Flash.

EDIT: a important info:

After installed NVSR, 4GB, NVAC and Mission Mojave (not used YUP at the time, did not know that MM changed game stuff) in a older laptop I had one, ONE CTD in more then 300 hours of gameplay. Windows 7.

In this actual laptop i already played for several hours:

- Fallout 4 (I have some CTD after fill the game with mods, but less then 10 in more then 100 hours)
- Sleeping Dogs
- Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3
- Far Cry 2
- Ori and the Blind Forest
Is there a program or something similar that generates an error log for New Vegas?

  • 2 weeks later...

These tests to see if it works just right takes time, so I just had the opportunity to do once, but APPARENTLY I resolved, after deleting a lot of programs.

But this post is not about that. Autosave is really such a problem? Because with this

or this

.

http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/45652/?

I have a REALLY annoying frame drop, normaly about half everytime a quicksave is made, from low to ultra settings, With 60 fps or 30 fps. I tried everything, solves nothing.

The built-in game "auto-save" feature is what causes problems (i.e. corrupt files). The mods that are intended to replace that functionality do a better job. The core of the issue is that reusing a "save game slot" is a bad practice, as is relying upon less than a full save. The other problem with "auto-saves" is that they need to take into account what the game is doing in the background to avoid interrupting something crucial. Which is what CASM attempts (and by and large succeeds in detecting) depending upon how you configure the "with MCM" version.

Framerate drop during a save is just something everyone has to live with. Full saves take longer than "quick saves", but are more complete and reliable. This is not a "first person shooter" game. Any FPS above 20 is playable.

As for your heap size tests: note that for some people NVSR's attempts to replace the default heap algorithm do not work, and can be demonstrated to actually worsen the CTD problem. There is no predicting this; only testing will tell. In general, the suggested size works for most people. The "Sheson Memory patch" (referenced in that same entry) may be all you need.

Re: FPS. there are a couple of ways of attempting to limit your FPS. See the first two "Causes" under "Issue: Game in slow motion". In general, only use one method.

[Edit:] I use Wrye Flash. If you are seeing a different "load order" in LOOT than you see in the "Mods" tab of WF, then you need to right-click on the WF "Mods" tab "File" column header and disable/uncheck the "Lock Times" setting in the context menu that appears. LOOT works with WF by adjusting the file data/time stamps and that will prevent it from changing them as needed.

thanks friend, 4 others things:

1)

I reverse my fallout.ini and custom.ini prefs.ini to default (generate by the game). Do you think this

Made that bUseThreadedAI=1 iNumHWThreads=2 thing

is a important and/or necessary thing to do?

2)

Any link with tips about configuration? (like disable AA, disable shadows, this kind of stuff)

3)

how can I copy my mod list as a .txt?

4)

In a older notebook, I´m instaled some mod, do not remember wich, that turn my saves in german :D

Now, it´s happening again, in another language (i guess)

http://image.bayimg.com/873da05f12e644294a6eed34f5b76bd6c3ba0357.jpgd

last time, I use FNVEdit to resolve the problem, but probably I have to identify the mod first, right?

Thanks

Re "bUseThreadedAI=1" & "iNumHWThreads=2": The effectiveness varies for people. See "Issue: Application load error(s)" Cause-2" in the previously referenced "Mod Conflicts" guide.

Re Configuration settings: See "Issue: Game in slow motion" entry. In general, the less you change the better off you will be. Every change has the potential to cause an unexpected problem, so if you do choose to try a setting, test one at a time. Note the values listed there were provided by someone asking if they would be a problem. They are not recommendations. If you intend to use ENB or some other "post-processor" like SweetFX, see the entries that begin with "ENB". (They are grouped together in "Mod Conflicts".)

Re copying your mod list as a text file: LOOT can copy your LO into a list suitable for posting on forums. (It's under the ":" with three dots to the extreme right in it's menu bar.) Most "mod managers" have a similar "LO List" capability. Wrye Flash's is a "context menu" entry on the "Mods" tab called "List Mods". Personally I prefer LOOT's because it provides both decimal and hex numbering. But WF's indicates your "inactive due to merging into the BP" plugins (the ones with the green "+" symbol), which LOOT just lists without a number like any inactive mod. So whichever better suits the purpose at the moment. The WF list already includes the "spoiler" tags. For LOOT's list you have to paste it into spoiler tags which are found in the forum edit window under the "Special BB Code" icon (third from the left at the top of the edit window).

Re the mod that changed the language of your save files: Yes, you will need to identify the mod. Which is an example of why we say install and test one mod at a time. Remember, just "deactivating" a mod will not always be enough to revert to vanilla behavior, if the mod replaced (overwrote) any vanilla files.

Ok, I erase all trace of Fallout New Vegas from my note and made a clean install in C:/Steam. After that I reolad a game, played for 3 hours and no crash.

Then I installed 4GBNV, NVSR, NVAC and played for 3 hours and no crash.

So I installed all mods and launch the game. Crash.
I deleted all mods and Mod Organizer and Installed the same mods with FOMM. Two more crashs.
Then I use the 2 solutions from "Issue: CTD without warning, "Out of Memory error", or stops responding" and after various tests with several hours running the game, I can hit the hammer. IT´S WORKING NOW
edit: oh yes, I use the "bUseThreadedAI=1" & "iNumHWThreads=2" too
guess the problem was the Mod Organizer.

Remember, just "deactivating" a mod will not always be enough to revert to vanilla behavior, if the mod replaced (overwrote) any vanilla files.

This is really possible with some mod manager? Because with FOMM, all files go to another directory, not in the Data file (in my case is C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\mods)
