Using valuables mod

I would like to use the valuables (gems, nuggets) for something and not just sell them for gold. For this I have a few mod ideas, please tell me what you think:

 

 

1. [Nuggets] -> Jewelry Kit

Take a gold or silver nugget and use the 'jewelry kit' to turn it into one or more rings/amulets/ect. It should cost time but the combined value of the jewelry should exceed that of the nuggets.

 

 

The next one is a bit complex:

 

2. [Gems] -> Ayleid Enchanter

The legendary Ayleid Enchanter is an artifact that uses jewelry, gems (ruby, sapphire, emerald, diamond) and varla stones to create special enchanted items. The enchanter uses the Varla stones to give the gem magical abilities and mounts it on a ring/amulet. Each Varla stone adds a mana capacity of 1000 points to a gem. The maximal capacity of a gem is determined by the gem quality: flawed = 1000, normal = 2000, Flawless = 3000.

Ayleid enchantments don’t work like human enchanted items. The to-self magic (shields, attribute boosts) has no eternal effect but will feed of the mana supply when active. The to-target magic is combined into one spell that will appear in the spell inventory when worn and will drain the mana supply like an enchanted weapon. Thus such an item gives a temporally boost to the offensive and defensive.

 

Example: Amulet of Fire Ruby

Ruby (normal), 2 Varla stones and Gold Amulet

Spell 1: Fire Shield (with x amount of mana drain per sec)

Spell 2: Searing Grasp

Then There are several mods that change gems into something else, but I can't remember one that allows you to craft rings and things from nuggets. That might be doable. This may be a good mod to start on modding with. I'm looking forward to seeing your mod that does this.

I am currently running Oldblivion, so I can't use the construction set. However will upgrade in late march, so I should be able to start then.

 

ps. So what programs do you recommend for making the scrips and the models?

I haven't had much luck beyond simple changes in mods. I am sure that some of the gurus here can give better advice than me on things like scripting , meshes etc. I do know that Dtom is working on a new version of his guide to modding. Maybe it will be finished by March.
