mroboto2016
I had an earlier post about crashing on dialogue editing. Still no answers. I take it some of you can actually use this thing? I can't even get past basic dialogue editing without crashing. Exception handling seems to be missing.
radiumskull
For many months after its first beta release, Creation Kit would crash anytime I clicked on - just clicked - a list item. That meant I had to be careful around a lot of places, especially Quest entries. After several updates, that problem went away, at least for me. I run Win10, and I suspect it has something to do with FO4 being built on Win7 systems. I brought my old Win7 machine up to spec and installed everything, and it worked without crashing like that. Sorry I don't have a definite answer for you, but if you have another computer running a different OS, you could try that.
m0ds1984
I suppose it's different reasons for different people. It took me a while to get a method down (mostly involving patience) to avoid crashes. Most of mine, it would seem, are related to the Render Window and my graphics card. Occasionally, moving from cell to cell, if I tried to click more than once, it'd send my computer into a never ending grind not allowing me to click anything with the only solution being a cold reboot. Now I know to only ever click once and to wait until the frame rate displayed in the Render Window starts ticking over again - then it's safe to click again! Your issue doesn't sound related to render window/graphics card...so the only thing I can suggest it trying to make whatever changes you can from an initial load, ie, without any cells loaded into the render window. I've found I can avoid even more crashes when I do that. But as radiumskull says, I don't know... it seems CK has gotten that little more stable with its updates over the last few months. But not by much. So I do wonder just how much of it relies on your patience and itchy trigger finger... so I've invented a CK rhyme... click once 'n wait, everything's great... try to click twice and it won't be nice. lol. good luck! damanding
I also have more frequent crashes when something is loaded in the render window and I also have to force myself to be patient and not touch anything while its rendering something. I've also discovered that trying to run both the CK and the game engine (even if it's just sitting at the load menu) leads to more frequent crashing. It's buggy as can be and I don't understand how they made a game with it. I assume they just use something different? Or a different build of it? Might want to verify you have the latest update too, it does tend to get more stable with each update.
