Decal, it doesn't matter if the object is inanimate or not, it's what it can make people do that's the killer. And the saying "Money is the root to all evil" is only a metaphor, A METAPHOR FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! Jeebuz, understand what the argument is about before posting your thoughts. Thank you!

I just recently had this odd thought

 

"Hey what if no one ever had thought of money, and no one ever would? What would this world look like?"

 

It's an interesting thought, so I'm going to ask the forum members:

1. What do you think the world would look like if the above statement was true?

2. Do you think value of something would exist?

3. Do you think the world would be a better place?

4. Show your work.(Just kidding.)

 

IMPORTANT: When I say money, I mean any thing that is used to measure a objects value -- gold, coins, dollars, euros, anything that is used as currency EVER.

1. People would probably argue less, do more work themselves, help others out. Every thing you made is technically yours, and you can help others make there own.

Interesting thread. Just so I can be on topic at least for a bit *drinks beer*:

 

1. Blank and lifeless because it sounds, with candor, impossible.

2. Always, simply because the concept of possession exists.

3. Not particularly. I've always agreed that "the problem is people" and we won't let a little thing like no currency stand in the way of our precious hate.

I think the concept of value is instinctually present in everyone.

 

Now, let me take a moment to sh*t all over the animal kingdom. Even the animals we inherently regard as inferior covet instinctually. They're competing all the time! Darwinian competition in nature (allegedly, if you believe otherwise) decides the very fate of a species. Lions compete for dens, wolves amongst themselves for leadership, etc. The winner gets to survive, and the loser gets dunked or kicked off the island or somesuch. Key word there is survival. And whether we human guys with our Ghandis and Lennons realize it or not, we're still playing the same game against each other, just with bigger muscles (bombs) and how f*cked up is that?

 

Back on track, competition strikes me as a very early form of currency: instead of "i'll give you these coconuts for some cow dung" it's "i'll take your cow dung if I can whoop your ass". We didn't make the rules we just named the roles evolution (if you believe in it... sad that I even have to say that.) gave us. So how would we change them?

 

My point?

 

F*ck lions.
