RadRoachHD
That would seem to indicate you have a save going on related to entering and exiting combat. Are you using CASM? If so, then 1) use the "CASM with MCM" version, and 2) disable saving relating to combat. See post #4 where Roy recommends turning off all "save events" except a timed save (and perhaps increase the interval of the save frequency) and hotkey saving. -Dubious-Hey, thanks Dubious for the tip but i'm not using CASM. dubiousintent
Then what are you using? I sure hope it isn't the built-in game "auto-save" feature as that tends to corrupt save files. It is unable to determine when an appropriate time is, and often attempts a save while the game is doing something it hasn't finished processing (like combat). A 2 second lag is pretty severe unless some sort of disk activity is going on. Writing to disk is the slowest thing the game engine does. Reading is usually faster unless it's having to completely rebuild the display rendering from disk. Do you have NVSE Error logging enabled? -Dubious- Edited February 21, 2018 by dubiousintent
RadRoachHD
I am indeed using the built in auto-save feature, also my HDD is not really doing anything other than running FNV through Mod Organizer. I did not have NVSE error logging enabled, but added the lines [Logging]EnableGameErrorLog=1 to my nvse_config.ini, in this reinstall that I have done I thought it may be important to note that I haven't had any crashes though. dubiousintent
I was not suggesting you enable NVSE logging if you aren't suffering CTDs. That will add to your stuttering issues. I was asking to suggest you turn it off if it was on. Sorry if that wasn't clear. Since you did, check your "nvse_*.log" files for any "Error" entries. (There may be lots of "warnings" but you can ignore those.) Be aware that the "falloutnv_error.log" file will likely be large (roughly 1-2MB) and contain a lot of entries. That is also normal. There are a lot of unfixed errors in the vanilla files and DLCs, but they still seem to work. The timing of your stutter upon entering and exiting combat is suspicious. As I never used that feature, I'm not sure if that is default behavior. (I started out with "CASM with MCM" and minimal events.) Please see the paragraph about "auto-saves" under the 'Essentials for Getting Started' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article. If you have been using the built-in "auto-save" feature and you get the endless "roulette wheel" when loading a save game, then your current save game file is corrupted and you will have to either go back to a save before the corruption occurred (hard to tell) or start over. -Dubious-
