Help! Texture transparency issue with Squall's pants (FFVIII)

Oh awesome thank you for taking a look at it! I'm using 3DS Max 2012. I also have 2016 installed, but I've been using 2012 because I hope I can eventually get a hand on the Havok Content Tools somehow (if Microsoft ever releases it again or if someone has one I can use when Intel owned it) so I can start animation.

For the nif plugin, I'm using the 3.8.0-a3.9b87306 file on the nexus : http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/5622/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D5622&pUp=1

I'll try and compare the dismemberskininstance partitions and see if I can get anything working as well!

You're amazing! I want to say thank you! I went back and started messing with more stuff and figured out what the main issue is and pretty much solved it entirely. You were right about it being a skinning issue.

I'm still not 100% sure how to avoid this or when it will happen, but I know what to look at now to go back and fix it! The body mesh I was using to rig has a few bones near the crotch area that were the culprit. I'm guessing because the body mesh had bones for (that area) but there was no mesh there, it caused the issues. There was also an issue with a [spine02] bone (or something close) that I'm guessing is not normally there either.

I'm TERRIBLE at weight painting (because I've actually NEVER done it before, I just learned about the SkinWrap feature and used that entirely), but I messed around, deleted some of the weights, and made other sections weights larger and it's almost fully fixed now. I'll need to figure out what the specific culprits are, and what I can do to 100% get rid of the issue, but it's good enough now I feel comfortable moving to the next mesh (after I fix some clipping issues with the mesh during animation.)

Great to hear!

If you are having trouble with weighting, this might help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSpL13jVF34&list=PL38C28CE97107F8F3 It covers every aspect of rigging the armor and its 3dsmax 2012, thought i'll let you know in case you haven't watched already, is a great tutorial series.

Thanks for that link! I've seen a video of his before but forgot to go back and check out more! I started watching his mesh editing and skin wrap tutorial and already learned a few helpful things in just a few minutes! I didn't know about soft selection for vertices movement, that's going be a huge help! I also didn't use a smoothing modifier when using the skin wrap feature! I should probably watch a lot of this guys videos!
