akashacatbat
Hello, newbie here who is mostly going to be lurking in the Dragon Age forums. Some of you may remember me from back in the day when I hung around some modding forums for BG and BGII. If so, HI! Great to see you again! In real life, my name is Jen. I am a librarian at a branch of a public library in a largish urban setting. Things I wish they had told me in library school: 1. A large, LARGE part of your job is tech support. Commonly heard questions are: "How do I print?""How do I get to the internet?""Can I write a letter on this thing?" 2. When a book/dvd/cd is overdue, it is always the fault of the librarian. Also, patrons think we don't notice when they place said item on the shelves, then act like they just found it there. 3. You can have all the signage in the world, but people still will not turn off their cell phones. 4. You need to develop the ability to spot Crazy a mile away and to quickly adapt, or you won't last a week. Most Crazy is a benevolent sort as long as you don't poke it, but you gotta watch out for the volatile ones. I love it, though, because every day is something different. And I am quickly amassing a lot of fun stories, along with a pretty decent knowledge of Urban Fiction authors and series, especially for a white chick from small town America.
