Mods not loading when ESPs are active.

I haven't played FO4 in quite a while, and I thought I'd better hop back in. Did a fresh install, redownloaded all of my mods, etc.

However, once in game, I realized that none of my mods were present. I'm currently using the latest version of NMM, and have redownloaded some mods I used on my previous character before I quit. Upon checking my load order file, I noticed that it was using the load order of the wrong mods (previous character). Here's what I've checked and tried after that:

- Every ESP file is active in NMM, they show up in-game as active when I check my load order

- plugins.txt is fine, an asterisk is before every active file, as usual

- loadorder.txt had the loadorder of my previous game active, I redid the file to only show the mods I'm currently using, and set it to read only

- After checking load order, I used LOOT, it didn't work

EDIT:

- I have set loadorder.txt from read-only to non-read-only

Could I get some help with this issue? I'll try to clarify any questions.

EDIT:

I've tried all of the suggestions in the comments, thank you very much for help.

Sadly, the mods still won't load. The items appear in-game, but lack meshes or textures. I simply have to conclude that NMM installed the ESPs, and not the rest of the mod files. I'm going to check around to see if I can fix this.

FINAL EDIT (source found):

I found the source for this issue: Nexus Mod Manager.

After checking my game files, I noticed that while NMM was successful in installing both the loose file folders and ESPs into my game, it neglected the loose files themselves. I redownloaded NMM, copied my mods folder and set it as my standard, then reinstalled every mod.

Actually I don't believe it is the mods themselves to blame. I am suddenly having a problem where non of the mods in my game are showing up yet three or four days ago the mods were working fine. It may be on Nexus end as the error message I get is that non of my mods are available.

I have more than a few mods loaded but it isn't over population of mods that is causing the problem, the game cannot find the mods anymore and many of these mods are linked to the Nexus sites.

I hope someone at Nexus is working on this problem as I suspect that this issue is more common that anyone realizes.

I guess I should clarify a few things:

I've been fooling around with my settings, as stated in the original post. I've launched the game via F4SE and the normal launcher, neither would load the mods.

All of the mods I've got have been completely redownloaded from the Nexus, I've received no errors in the download process. Every mod was installed correctly, I've overwritten or properly uninstalled any of my outdated or unused mods.

Every ESP is active, both in NMM and in-game, no issue there.

I'm fairly certain the game considers my mods active, I can open the console in-game and add the modded items to my inventory, but they simply show up as invisible.

Therefore, I can only believe that none of the mods are being properly loaded, I've checked over my load order with LOOT with no avail.

One thing I'm interested in is that plugins.txt is marked as read-only. I checked over various sources, and most claimed that this was the proper setting.

I'm going to fiddle with my game a bit more once I get back from work.

Which item?

I have had this happen win I did not correctly install a mod.

Also LOOT does not do a good job sorting load orders. It seems to be good for performance, but not for a mod to function correctly.

The items were ones added to the game via mods. For example, when I tried adding the PKD or "That Gun" to my inventory, all of the stats were intact, but the weapon model did not show up in my hand. Additionally, I could equip it with other weapons already equipped. I thought this was a simple error on the mod's end, but I went on to add the SCAR-H, Precursor Suit, and SCAR-LK to my inventory, all of which had the same issue.

CBBE would also not appear, and any character cosmetic mods (custom hairs, etc) would not appear.

As far as the weapons go, do you have Weaponsmith Extended?

For them, and the armor, it means the textures, and/or meshes did not install correctly.

I do not know CBBE that well to fully understand why it does not work. My understanding it should work from install.

Hair and face mods. I have been using LookesMenu, and LookMenu Customization, as I had read many hair and face mods do not woth with each other very well.

I'll look into all of these, thanks for the aid!

Regarding CBBE, I'll give it a fresh install. The hair and face mods, however, I used on my older character with no conflicts, I'll check up on their pages to see if they got any updates.

If none of this works, I'll have to go over my mod list and game files. I'll update this post after work.
