Do I need to add ammo to modded npc's? If yes, how?

I just added some new weapons to the minutemen and also to the raiders, but I don't know if I also need to add ammo or if by adding the weapon they will already appear with the necessary ammo equipped for that weapon, and won't change to fists when engaging in a conflict. In case I do need to add ammo, what line am I supposed to edit?
