Bothiahs Calling, Sacrifice part.

I want the Ebony mail, but the quest seem bugged.

Lead someone to become trapped by the shine and slay them.

This step seem pretty simple, but apparently isnt!

 

Iv tryed letting him stand close and far away before ordering him to use it.

Iv tryed killing him standing next it (with ground lit up).

Iv tryed fast traveling away and back.

Iv tryed picking up another hireling.

Iv tryed using a favor follower.

And nothing is working.

I googled and youtubed this quest, and what Im doing, is the exsact way to execute this part.... yet nothing happens.

 

Can anyway shed some light on this topic??

you have to ask him to do something, aim for the altar and press E and then sacrifice him

Im 100% aware of that detail.

its the same with all 4 followers I tryed with, they answer ok, got it! but takes no such action.

 

Anyone else?

Just did that quest (not that I liked it but to clear my journal) and it worked fine. Here the steps:

• 
  lead your follower to the circular area (see marker)
  equip the blade of sacrifice (though I think this can be done with any weapon)
  tell him to do something
  click the altar which should trigger an animation
  slay him

For me, my companion lagged a bit before activating it. Maybe try waiting a bit longer?

this is the way i did mine, i hired some guy at the windhelm inn for 500g led him all the way to the sacrificial area talked to him and ordered him to the small pilar and wallah! as soon as he was pulled i slit his throat and killed everyone in the area including the priestess "fun" Edited December 13, 2011 by spets21

The followers you are using are likely marked as essential. What I did was I became the Listener of the Dark Brotherhood, and took one of the iniates to be sacrificed. They were marked essential so I looked through the console for their name, and put in the code that came up to turn them non-essiental:

 

 

To turn an NPC non-essential or essential simply find their base ID and use the code:

 

setessential (Base ID) 1 (to set the essential flag) or 0 (to turn it off)
