CaptainChaos
I just got the patch, just now! I had quit playing just before an ice mage, last week, waiting for this fix. I am a 30th level warrior build on Master. I had 50% nord resistance, 40% frost resistance necklace, drank a 30% potion of frost resistance. That is 120% RESISTANCE TO FROST. I STILL TAKE FROST DAMAGE. Even with the Shield blocking (another 50% reduction supposedly). SO WHAT THE ^*&(*? Is there a cap on magic resistance protection? Otherwise... ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRG. Handofbane
Thought I read somewhere the original cap was 85% on resistances, aside from Disease/Poison. I may be wrong though.
bpestilence
85% is the cap. You can never make your character completely impervious, but you can get close. An "immunity" is the only real 100% resistance that exists in the game. So, flame atronaches are 100% immune to fire, and that is a good way to check if the resistances are still broken or not. You can stack different effects to get close to immune, though. For example, 85% frost resistance + 85% spell absorption end up being, statistically, a 97.75% resistance to frost. You won't even notice it.

I may be wrong though. yep that what I was aware of only disease and poison resist caps at 100 all others cap at 85% and if I remember rightly straight magic resist doesn't trigger on dragon breath shouts only speciifc fire/frost resist helps there

elvinkun
Question. Hit Fire Atronach with Firebolt. Resisted? It's fixed then. Either way, you took damage, or got killed in 1-3 shots?
Eliian
I do not see your issue. With healing and potions you are more than well off.
CaptainChaos
The issue my friends, and thanks for your many responses, is not that the game is challenging, but that it might still be broken. I don't tease you all for enchanting your way to boredom, kindly reserve your snarkiness for my choice of Nord and intelligent selection of magic for the other school children you see during lunch. If there is an 85% cap, I'm all for it! However, all last week, everyone on this forum and the Bethesda forum, said, "on no Captain, Armor is capped at 80% damage reduction, but resistance is 100% all the way." If they were wrong and you are correct, I am actually all for it, b/c otherwise it would be too boring. However, if it is broken, then I would like it fixed; wouldn't you? Hence, why my title said, "or is there a resistance cap?" Thanks for anyone else who can shed more clarity on this issue.

It should be resisted. If it's not, then it's obviously broken. Testing on yourself if a bit harder, but you can't get 100% resist even if it's fixed. CaptainChaos
good point. I'll have to find one to test it and set the difficulty to Easy b/c my Destruction Magic on Master causes no damage at all. Now, all of the sudden, people on the Bethesda forum said there is an 85% resistance cap, whereas last week they too said it was 100%. Sigh. I wonder if they changed that when they fixed it, or if good info is just hard to come by. Well, thanks for the input all...
